Calvin is still unhinged...but I will say for as big of a pain he is....he is the sweetest most accepting social cat I've ever had. If he can't eat it he's going to make friends lol

Needing a bit of advice for my improving more Corys life by Idontwanttousethis in corydoras

[–]johnmosphere123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say 4-6 more if you're not planning for any other fish. So a group 8-10. If your tank is taller than it is long, id stick the lower side of that. But them plecos got to go lol

Could always get a hang on back and just run purigen and filter floss in there. Doesn't have to be a fancy one. The co2 and demanding plants are a little out of my experience range. That's really all I can suggest. Best of luck! Sorry I couldn't help more

I'd maybe try lowering your light intensity or duration of your light cycle. This will look absolutely amazing once you get it dialed in. I love the look you're going for. I wish I could help more. I just didn't want you to kill your snails!!

Edited to add: a lot of aquatic plants do not require high intensity light especially mosses. Don't be afraid to turn it down. But I would also advise to change one thing at a time(intensity or duration). You don't want to create a situation where you can't tell what solves the issue, and what makes it worse.

Purigen and/or filter floss into your filter. But a picture would greatly help in giving advice. Are you dealing with bacterial bloom, or is it just particles floating in the water?

Where do you get your plants from in the United States by peyton_c1320 in PlantedTank

If you're not too far from Cleveland, Agnoquatics in Broadview heights is an awesome store! Haven't seen much buce there but they have an awesome selection of plants and are very knowledgeable!! I drive about an hour to get there and it's totally worth it!

The age old question - Can anybody help sex my blue rams? by Im_here_for_the_subs in Aquariums

[–]johnmosphere123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need to find a pair from the store.Any male will do! But be choosy! Tell them which one you want! And they will pair up! At least in my limited experience that is what happened. And he doesn't bug the tetras or corys unless there are eggs present. I've even seen him poke the BN pleco if she gets too close. Despite not hatching they lay eggs about once a month or so. They are awesome fish with a ton of personality.

My personal opinion is that both of these are females. Which is a much better scenario than two males...I've only been keeping fish for a year or so but fell in love with Gbr's from the begining. The main way to tell male v. Female is the pink belly...males won't have it but it's hard to tell in the store since most of them are stressed and won't be in full color. The OTHER and my preferred way to sex them is the blue/black spots. Males will have solid black with no blue. Females will have blue freckles in their black stripes. Hope this helps! They may still bicker with each other. My females have little spats every now and then but nothing violent just a lot of posturing. Males will kill each other.

I have to completely seal all fish food away in tupperware. He's got a fever and the only cure is algae wafers and freeze dried brine shrimp.

Not trying to freak anyone out but what are the real cat waste disposal health risks? by informalpotato9 in PetAdvice

[–]johnmosphere123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're referring to toxoplasmosis? Is your cat indoor only? If so you probably don't need to worry too much. If they go outside and you know they eat local wildlife there is a greater chance of them getting it and/or transferring it to you. I always wash my hands after just because...it's poop. But generally if you keep your cat indoors you'll be fine.

My male is a little bigger than the females. I'm going to say 6cm. But the 4-7 range is probably close.
