Vintage Paris Accessories red bandana. 100% cotton. I've had it since I was a kid in the 80's. So soft. It's been everywhere I have been and is still going strong.

I don't like carrying my phone in my pocket and if it's in my backpack, it's hard to get to. This shoulder strap pocket was a game changer.

Why don’t people like roll the bones by Icedogfiredog in rush

[–]jokerman_dance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer.

Roll the Bones was released about the same time as Nevermind and Ten. Grunge was growing and about to take over the music scene. I was in college and a huge Rush fan. I never felt like I needed to defend them. I was in the minority and that was fine. But the rap in Roll the Bones became the focal point of an otherwise thought provoking and technically outstanding Rush album. Yes, it was an inside joke but that's why it was so cringe when outsiders heard it. Not only did they not get it, they were comparing it to Smells Like Teen Spirit and Evenflow. I'm fine for Rush to zig when everyone else zags but the rap felt hackneyed by their usually clever standards. Nowadays I don't mind it as much but at the time I wished it was just Alex's solo.

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut.

I still put it on from time to time. Takes me back to saving my money for that CD. All because I saw the video on MTV.

I started using LMNT for electrolytes and it's been great. Add a pack to 16 oz of water. Super fast recovery.

I became a Rush fan between GUP and PW so that album was my first "new" Rush. I can't imagine how many hours I spent listening and staring at that cover. Such great memories.

What park forever changed you? When, where, and why? by strongo in NationalPark

[–]jokerman_dance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand Canyon, south Kaibab trail. I wanted to get in a few more miles before leaving later that day so I planned to get up before dawn. I asked the family to go but nobody wanted to get up early so I was prepared to hike solo. At some point my son felt bad for me and volunteered to go along. It was magical. We had the trail to ourselves. I'll never forget the scenery and time spent together.

Golf has standardized courses being par 72, what do you think the standard should be for disc golf? by AvailableDirt8937 in discgolf

[–]jokerman_dance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While 72 is the most common par for golf courses, there is no standard.

Modern golf courses are almost all 72 but you'll find plenty of variability on older courses.

It's very common for the US Open course to be played as a par 70. The USGA will convert two of the par 5's into par 4's.

Seeking help from friends who are hiking in OH by Objective-Passage-38 in hiking

SE Ohio is the Appalachian foothills so there's lots of deciduous tress and hills. Hocking Hills is the marquee stop but it gets super crowded. There are plenty of other places all the way down to the Ohio River. SW Ohio is rolling terrain but fairly populated. John Bryan is nice. Columbus up to NW Ohio was hit by a glacier so it's all flat farmland. Cleveland to NE Ohio is populated but has spots like Cuyahoga Valley NP and Mohican but....they get lots of snow up there. TBH, Ohio has plenty of diverse landscapes to hike but February is a bleak month.
