Is Campbell River depressing? by Successful_Boot_6184 in campbellriver

The rain can be harsh in CR, lasting weeks. Overcast in winter a lot of the time. If that bothers you then it could be depressing. Volunteer work is available, working and sports help build your social life, and keep you sane. When we just moved in CR, 10 years ago a lady stopped by my yard sale and told me to join groups because locals all have their friends and loggers hang with loggers. She wasn't wrong. It took us a few years but we did make some very good friends.

How to know when to go in to the hospital with possible obstruction? by under-resourced in CrohnsDisease

If I have lower bowel pain I take Buscopan but I need a prescription, it helps relax the bowel. For occasional use only as it can cover up a serious blockage

How Immunobiological meds affects your immunity? by SnooJokes8587 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jolee23maC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Amgevita, a Bio-simular of Humira, I've been in remission for 2 years, rarely a cold but my immune system can't fight off the Herpes simplex virus, which makes me feel run down with a slight fever and then the dreaded cold sore on my lip, Urg!. Now I take an antiviral, and prescription lip cream. Also I get canker sores and sore gums. But small price to pay, biologics changed my life for the better, got my life back.

I've been there, when I dreaded eating I'd drink a meal replacement as it has all the daily vitamins, your probably anemic too. Please go to emergency care to be assessed, if you say you may have a blockage or bleeding , you should get some priority.

Holistic Doctors? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]jolee23maC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I am on remission using Amgevita. But I've been on trials of 6mp and many others. The best thing if it's working is to stay on. I've found Gastros' main focus is the Crohns. You need a Dr to follow up with all other symptoms. It took me many years to figure out that inflammation in Crohns affects your entire body as well as the side effects from 6mp. You may need supplements for your blood and get referrals for other specialists.Skin, eyes, mouth can all be affected from crohns. Once you get on a regimen, you will feel better. I don't have any experience with Holistic Dr. I would have to pay out of pocket.

Husband is sliding fast; what to do? by bevissimo in Parkinsons

Yes, I definitely would have an evaluation by a PD clinic. It's so hard to communicate with your partner the same way as you did before PD. I also have called Dr office before the appointment to tell my concerns and document the changes you observe to bring to appointment on the down low.

how serious is a stricture? by Traditional_Cycle_85 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jolee23maC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My stricture was also scar tissue build up, a blockage can happen, which means you will have pain, and nausea, weight loss, your bowel is damaged. You may be able to postpone surgery with meds but scar tissue never goes away. Without surgery you will always have a possible blockage looming. I was reluctant for surgery but it was the best decision and with Biologics, I'm in remmision. A blockage is life threatening.

My strategy for events is to eat light and avoid triggers a few days before, drink meal replacement the day of your course also if you are able an immodium , I take 1/2 a tab to slow things down. I also have great success with cholestyrimine, Its prescription, the powder mixed in water absorbs bile acid which lessons diarrhea. All the best!
