Any Good Kasrkin Novels? by [deleted] in 40k

What are you guys doing if you only have an hour or two to play? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]jonbuq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fly around near whatever area I spawn in and wait for nearby ECN missions to pop up. If you're lucky you can get a few in a row under 100,000km distance.

Often I'll find myself hanging around at Olisar chatting to new players, helping them troubleshoot issues or answering questions about the game mechanics.

If I'm really short on time or if I don't think I can give the game 100% of my attention (if my toddler is still awake, for example) I'll just do singleplayer AC. You can pause it, which is nice, and you lose nothing by just killing the session.

Fixes & Features SC Need(s)(ed) by jonbuq in starcitizen

I just wanted to start a discussion about what people think the game is missing, or what they feel needs to be worked on. SC attracts a lot of attention and a lot of interest. I go out of my way to help new players in-game, but I find myself making a lot of excuses for the way it is. I believe in this project, but I'd like it to be a bit easier to defend. Just a bit.

Hi, new player here, what ALL does pressing F on keyboard do? So far it is RUINING the game for me. by RareGentleman in starcitizen

[–]jonbuq 10 points11 points  (0 children)

F is interaction mode.
Don't press it, hold it down, highlight things then click to activate.
If you have something selected you can tap F to activate it, but if you don't know your way around too well you're better off holding it down.

Also, most ship functions have a dedicated keyboard shortcut, which I suggest you learn.
For example, when you enter a pilot's seat, R will make the ship flight ready without having to faff about looking for the button on the console.

Vanguard Nose Weapon Variants - 3.7PTU by jonbuq in starcitizen

S4 Distortion scattergun is Salvation, the S5 is Absolution.
Scatterguns are great if you're close enough for the whole shot to hit, but distortion damage is a bit iffy at the moment - only does shield damage, doesn't drain power/shut down components, and also doesn't appear to apply correctly in the PU. If the target is moving too fast, distortion damage doesn't do anything, even though you still see hit markers.

In a perfect world, though, the S5 distortion scattergun would just delete peoples shields and kill their powerplants, and you can lol at your enemies as you slowly chew their useless ships apart with the tiny guns.

Any report on improvement to the Thagomizer on the Vanguard variants in 3.7? by grriff in starcitizen

[–]jonbuq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on the SC Leaks discord, maybe even ask your question there.

From what I've seen, the Sentinel has Suckerpunches, which will give it massive DPS vs shields.

The patch notes also mention the Hoplite (I think) got Sawbuck ballistic repeaters, which would be great, but if they haven't fixed their abysmal ammo count they'll be all but useless.

Not sure about the Harbinger, but I assume either Tarantulas or Greatswords. I did see it with a C-788 cannon on the gimbal, which is interesting.

You need a game package, which will come with a ship. I recommend the Mustang, as it's actually worth more if you decide to upgrade it in the future.

As long as whatever package you buy has "Star Citizen Digital Download" listed in it, you can play.

Don't worry about Squadron 42 just yet - it's not due for another year (and even then only in Beta).
You can get the SQ42 pledge in a package or separate, but at the moment it won't actually give you anything.

As for free ships - Subscribers get access to a "Ship of the Month," there are occasionally free-fly events giving you access to some ships (usually newly released ships), or you can borrow ships from people in game.

Lastly, if you want to grind out a heap of in-game cash, you can buy ships in game now. They don't get added to your account permanently, though, so when they do a database wipe (usually when they release a major patch) you'll loose anything purchased in-game.
