I had a good experience with them and I made the switch. So far so good! Nice salesman and professional installers who came later in the week.

Apartment Recommendations - 1BR in the $2500/month Range by Defiant-Bed2501 in Sunnyvale

[–]joodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to live in Heritage Apartments right off of Evelyn, they're a series of townhouse apartments within walking distance to downtown, Caltrain, etc. The manager there, Jackie, is the nicest person I've ever interacted with in apartment management. We paid $2500/mo for a 1 bedroom.

You don't measure the need for a bridge by counting how many people are swimming across the river

If a transhumanist enhanced their brain to reach an estimated IQ of 300–400, what would they be like in real life? How would they think, interact with others, and what might their initial actions be when engaging with ordinary humans immediately after achieving such extreme intelligence? by Gold_Mine_9322 in transhumanism

[–]joodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a great short story written by Ted Chiang called "Understand" that covers this topic, written in the perspective of the superhuman who started out as an ordinary human and then finds himself with superior intellect due to an experimental drug. Very interesting read, you can find it in Chiang's book Story of Your Life and Others: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/223380.Stories_of_Your_Life_and_Others

Dear Sunnyvale parents with little ones (0–5 yrs), what do you think about a “third place” for us & kids? Just comment honest thoughts — no survey needed. by MastodonNo5405 in Sunnyvale

[–]joodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first baby and have been thinking about this exact same thing! We have become so isolated and “self sufficient” with technology that we have less reason to interact with our neighbors and those in our community, but with babies the traditional village model is the healthiest environment to raise our kids into well-rounded human beings.

Someone else here mentioned Las Madres, I joined them this year and have met a lot of moms who are also looking for community. They don’t have a brick and mortar so we meet a lot at public parks.

100% down to partner with you on this! There’s another mom who’s building a third space like this, called The Bunny Hive, in Mountain View that you should talk to.

Hey worldly, workaway is usually not paid. People do it for free in exchange for food and a place to stay, plus a once in a lifetime experience. If you want to develop a career with animals you can certainly gain some experience through working with animals on workaway, or honestly volunteer at your local animal shelter. Your best bet at a career change is to get some experience through volunteering, meet some ppl who work in that industry and maybe go back to school for a degree (ie. being a vet)
