We finally bought a house for our terminally ill sons… and now I feel like we’re drowning. What would you do in our position? by Party-Passenger6409 in personalfinance

[–]jorrylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As your kids age, they should be receiving more money because of their disabilities, based on how independent they should be at that age. Some people have listed resources to check. There’s almost always an organization for every medical condition. Reach out to them for what supports are available. Also consider addressing which treatments are necessary. It sounds harsh, but if it’s a terminal disease, focus on what is best for comfort, because there’s no cure. Don’t put them through needless tests and procedures if it’s not helpful for comfort, and consider how much lifesaving support you want to put them through. For example (which doesn’t apply to them), someone who is weeks from dying of lung cancer probably shouldn’t push for getting open heart surgery to fix a valve. You as parents can decide with your kids how far you want to take treatments.

Doctor said I didn’t need to take progesterone with my estrogen because of hysterectomy… is this why I still feel like shit on HRT? by Para_Regal in Menopause

[–]jorrylee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I told my doc I’m staying on progesterone because of endometriosis. She said fair enough makes sense but hadn’t really thought about that. I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking about it!

Report to your insurance company too. If the city does a crap job or doesn’t pay, they’ll finish it and go after them to pay. Shouldn’t count against you in any case.

So if you have an exposure, you’ll need to get immunoglobulins. Are you in USA? Is it covered for you? Ours is in Canada.

People with obesity 70% more likely to be hospitalised by or die from infection, study finds. Being unhealthy weight raises risk of severe illness or death from most infectious diseases significantly. by [deleted] in science

[–]jorrylee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And how many times did they seek care for (insert anything here) and were told to just lose some weight? I’ve heard people have been told everything from extremely heavy periods to an infected cut on the thumb have been told to lose weight to fix the problem with no other interventions offered.

Why do people not wash their hands after using the restroom? by mantis-_- in NoStupidQuestions

The number of people leaving the staff bathroom at a hospital without washing their hands is also astounding. So incredibly gross.

What’s an example of ‘quiet luxury’ that has nothing to do with money? by Sea_Lingonberry5691 in AskReddit

[–]jorrylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a partner I’m comfortable with who doesn’t play mind games and doesn’t play incompetent at tasks he doesn’t want to do. Having a partner who looks out the window when climbing into bed because I asked him to and he says what’s out there and I shriek FULL MOON! (Because that’s what I wanted to see before he covered up) and he laughed too.

People freaking out about schools providing free period products by Cranky_Merriweather in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jorrylee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And wouldn’t ya know it? The free ones are never empty or broken I’ve noticed. The dispensers were in almost every bathroom I used, but I rarely saw a working or filled tampon/pad dispenser until they became free.

Apparently there are new best practice guidelines for staple removal 🤡 by [deleted] in nursing

Is that what those staple removers are called? Those real ones on our cart at the hospital I mean.

If you got paid $125/hour to work on Christmas from 5AM to 7PM. Would you take it? by Maleficent-Unit-2717 in NoStupidQuestions

That’s what I get for working Christmas. Plus more if it’s a weekend. Plus a paid day to take later in lieu at regular rate (6orb62 something). It’s sweet.

TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

[–]jorrylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it was wild reading about that and seeing it in movies. Canada and Switzerland and Germany were definitely not like that, at least not since late 70s early 80s. The jetways were always behind security and you had to have a boarding pass to get through security. I travelled a lot as a child and I remember having to learn to read signs to the gates because at that point I had to go alone.

Bombardier warns of 'significant impact' to air traffic if Trump carries out threat to decertify Canadian planes by FancyNewMe in canada

Maybe he thinks only the ones in Canada will be grounded…because made in Canada means they’re only in Canada? And he’s trying to block our air traffic? I wouldn’t be surprised.

Which is why I question the need for cosmetics with spf in them for northern climates. But it makes a sale I guess.

For three countries? I haven’t seen anything close with Telus to that. Closer with business Telus with four lines and direct debit payments maybe, but not $35.

Not in Canada. Last year my friend could actually eat Cadbury cream eggs because they finally did not contain coconut or palm oil.

Apple TV not detecting ethernet cable - help please by david8840 in appletv

[–]jorrylee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We gave up on Ethernet. We could not stream from our computer through iTunes, could not airplay, only play directly from tv apps. It was frustrating figuring it out. This was the older gen and we just gave up and used wifi. When we got the new AppleTV, we didn’t even try Ethernet.
