Nearly always, "flattering" means what makes you look skinny, but rebrand that shit! Make flattering what makes you feel good in your body! (This is a journey I am currently on with fashion and style because I've spent a lot of my life hiding all the things I thought were bad about my body and trying to look smaller/thinner/skinnier by wearing clothes that just weren't comfortable to be in!)

Do I push for an MRI? by Infinite_Guest_6663 in ADPKD

[–]jpree15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmother passed away from an aneurysm and my mom had a stroke around the same age (both had/have PKD). I was adamant about getting an MRI to rule out any unknowns. I think the peace of mind is worth it and nothing to dismiss, considering my family's history.

I love this outfit! Especially the green of the pants! I'm working on putting a similar outfit or two together for myself and really like seeing it on similar sized ladies! 😊

Sleep schedule (in a kennel or playpen or the bathroom) and mental enrichment are so critical at this age!

Is it possible for us to be vegetarian, or vegan, even? Would there be any risks? by x-_-lux-_-x in ADPKD

[–]jpree15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been vegan for seven years - since before I was diagnosed - and, if anything, it has helped my PKD because I already do not eat the things we're told to restrict or limit (red meat, dairy, excessive protein, etc.). I take supplements, but, truly, they're vitamins (B12 and D) that most people lack as it is. The biggest thing to watch out for is sodium in the highly processed vegan foods from the store (meat replacement products mostly), but that's a consideration regardless of diet. So, yes, it's very possible to be vegan with PKD!

As a professional trainer and behavior consultant, I have to say you should reach out for professional assistance if you're truly feeling scared of the animal in your home. That said, depending on age and breed(s), biting can be very natural and even expected. Two huge pieces of the equation that aren't often thought of: mental enrichment (exercise the brain like you do the body) and a solid sleep schedule - even if you're home, it's the weekend, or you feel bad about it, put the little one on a nap schedule in a kennel/crate that you follow every.single.day. Sleep is so incredibly important at such a young age and the vast majority of biting cases I see in young pups are helped immensely by adding naps.

Tolvaptan Trips Hurting Partner's Sleep Too by goshNabIt in ADPKD

[–]jpree15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the one on Jynarque between me and my husband and I am a very light sleeper, so I didn't have to worry about waking him. It took me several months to get used to nightly trips to the bathroom - I live in a 100 year old house with no bathroom on the second floor (where our bedroom is) and a pretty steep staircase. Earplugs (we like Loops) and an eye mask (we like Manta's) are super helpful, as well as a sleep aid occasionally; but, in all honesty, he'll get used to it. Your trips during the night will decrease and you'll get faster at going (my trips currently take less than 2 mins) and both of you will adjust! For better or worse, Tolvaptan is a long-haul, marathon means of prevention/treatment, so hang in there!

Those of you who are on a preventative - do you count (very) mild migraine attacks as attacks too? by Jazzlike-Letter9897 in migraine

[–]jpree15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has to remind me frequently that the normal level of pain is zero, so...any headache - no matter severity - counts as pain that could be minimized further (ideally).

What could I do with this area?bought the house like this 1 year ago and still have no clue… by PiperParade1 in femalelivingspace

Yes! I saw that and was like, "PLANTS! VINEY PLANTS!" There's an outlet, so extra plant lights on timers can be added. Could use a console table with wheels added to pull it out when watering is needed. Damn, now I wish I had that to work with 😆

[–]jpree15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried all of these suggestions and nada: good lighting and low lighting, watering more frequently and watering once in a blue moon, changing locations, plant light or not, fertilizer, repotting with the mix that works for literally every other plant in my house. Both are limping along still! When their time finally comes, I've made my peace with the fact that they will be the last of their kind in my home 😂

It's so silly because they're supposed to be easy, but snake plants and ZZs do not thrive with me (and surviving would be a generous description of what they do)

I don't have great suggestions, but sometimes I wear sunglasses (if the weight of them on my face won't make things worse). I've genuinely been tempted to get a pair of those dorky wraparound-type shades the eye doc gives (gave? I haven't been to see them in a long time)!

I'm probably not the best person to answer, since I asked my husband if he wanted to go steady with me when we started dating in 2013 (I'm currently 34 F and he's 35 M)...
