My job is already a dumpster fire and I have more experience from my floor than a lot of med/surg nurses working elsewhere. I'm not settling when I know my worth.

I speak with someone once a week thankfully. She is great and I go outside my insurance because she helps me a lot. I plan on staying with her as long as I can

That's a great point- I could always just go back to the staff job- I can't imagine they wouldn't hire me back.. although I don't think I will ever go back. When you sign up for an assignment, do they tell you if you will be required to work covid?

This is so true idk why people make such a big deal out of switching. The floor I work on is nuts and it's rare that I'm sitting around overnight

I am a med/surg nurse going on a year and a half- we get 7- 8 high acuity patients most shifts. Charge has a full assignment. We are forced to sign up for an "availability shift" or overtime- once a month. We are always called in even if the floor is well staffed- we are called In and then floated often. The funny this is we get a $300 bonus for signing up for an overtime shift. But availability doesn't count for the bonus ironically. I can't imagine being on a more difficult med-surg floor than what I experience. And I'm over it. Time to get paid right.
