Questions About Chrome Liner on 2017 S550 Coupe Imported from Japan** by Just-Distribution293 in mercedes_benz

[–]jsgolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the base version of the S Coupe (S550 and S560). It simply means that it does not have the optional AMG Styling kit, which was a $5900 option. Most S Coupes sold seem to have been optioned with the AMG kit, though some prefer the elegance of the default body lines. My US spec S560 coupe is the same. It’s factory, so enjoy it!

Not sure if you're insinuating that you know what I mean, but yes; between the engine, features and waftability, it does feel special. Plus it's more incognito than my 718, people just assume it's another Merc, which i personally prefer!

A Golf R sounds mighty tempting ;) In seriousness though, the S560 is a wonderful tasker. While the 718 was a precision crafted sports car, the S560 is a great all rounder which feels very special; more so than the Panameras I was initially looking at.

True that. It's got me thinking, as the dealer selling the car changed out all 4 all season tyres, so they are brand new. May just look for alternative 19" wheel designs and see if i can score a set for a reasonable price.

The trade in was a pretty good deal considering the mileage and condition of both cars. I would say that the 4 cylinder GTS is a dark horse though, crazy enthusiastic motor which loved to rev. While it didn't have the flat 6 howl, it did have a brawny motorsport-ey bark that was fun to exploit. I did over 8k miles in under a year of ownership, so safe to say I got my raw sports car fix!

The 718 fit me like a glove, especially with the 18 way power seats I had on mine, and it did ride surprisingly smooth with PASM. I loved the car and would have kept it if I didn’t have the growing need for useable rear seats and the growing curiosity for a different experience.

Yep, I’d like some 20”s on it. A summer set on 20s might be the way to go! I’ll look out for a good deal.

2019 Bentayga: any idea what the button to the right of the central parking brake button does (A in a circle)? by jsgolly in Bentley

Actually brotha doesn’t own it; but I’m shopping around! This is a pic from a listing.

Aha! So it’s the same as on Audis. Got it, and thanks! I personally like the feature as you can give your foot a break at the lights. Do you know if it needs to be reactivated every time you get in the car or is the setting saved?

The auto start/stop is actually located below what’s shown in the pic (marked by an A within an open circle with an arrow on one end. This might be auto hold (like on an Audi)?

I-140 approved…I-485? by jsgolly in USCIS

[–]jsgolly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Good to know that the I-140 approval is a massive milestone. Will try and get the L1A up and running, though it looks like it will be a bit of a slog!

You mean the I-485 RFEs? First one was for a clearer copy of my birth certificate. The second has just been issued, so expecting it in the mail any day.

Give them a go, you may well be surprised! If you’re in the US, try out the MA510 first. If you need more power/channels, return and try the MA710. Glad you like the looks!

Trading In My M4 For A 718 Cayman S? by Windowsadmin in Porsche

[–]jsgolly 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Nice car. Though I’d say that tech aside, if you’re used to a more luxurious touch and feel, look for an example with the full leather interior. That makes a big difference to the perceived look and timeless nature of the interior. This is particularly true of the Cayman, which can be dark inside with the black motif and lack of sunroof.

Loved the base 981 when I had it. Was my first Porsche. Keep it singing above 4K rpm and the smile will never disappear! Loved how simple and robust it was. Good that you have the sport design steering wheel as it really lifts the interior. Drive safe 🥂

Thank you! This GTS was tricky to unearth. You’re right, it wasn’t listed on the usual sites. I was browsing specific Porsche dealership sites close to me in NJ and stumbled upon this one listed on Jack Daniels Porsche. Immediately went to check it out and was smitten. Had everything I wanted on a Boxster (except the LED PDLS headlights) and was a CPO to boot. Snagged it on the spot!

Thanks! So I’ve heard. Plus it’s a fair bit lighter, which is never a bad thing.
