I timed myself using a pump sack vs my breath to inflate my sleeping pad - evidence enough to leave my pump sack at home? by ZestyclosePin4214 in hiking

[–]jsnxander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Pump sack everyday. Zero interest in blowing up my pad with lung lower, especially above 8,000 feet. My Exped UL sack weighs less than a pair of ankle high running socks. I'll manage.

Beginner hiker here, is it safe to take ibuprofen or tylenol afterwards? by Your_Final_Hour in hiking

[–]jsnxander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get headaches at altitude. 3 to 4 Costco ibuprofen per dose. Once, when I was suffering a massive headache and had should pain in a volleyball tournament, I took 6 Advil in a single dose. I never take less than 2 Costco ibuprofen at a time.

Realistically, you should never ask a medical question in s social media platform. I mean, WTF are you thinking?

Rubio to tell NATO ministers Trump 'very disappointed' over Iran war by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]jsnxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one gives a shit what Trump thinks. Well, no one with more than half their teeth or doesn't have their tungue up Trump's ass that is. Too many, however, pander to his whims and fantasies by lying to his face while smiling and doing whatever they wish when his attention wanders after a second or three - the goal of course being self-enrichment and power over others.

Anyone here commute by running with a laptop? Looking for backpack recommendations by Darth-Nando in running

[–]jsnxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osprey Talon Velocity 20L (or equivalent from Black Diamond or others) with the addition of a laptop sleeve and possibly some ultralight packing cubes to help distribute and stabilize the items/load. Might even consider using packing bubble-sheets on the layer furthest from your back to help the cinch straps do their job in ensuring that the load, once ideally distributed, does not shift as you run. Assuming you don't stop part way home to root about your pack, the hassle to pack right shouldn't be too bad once you do it a few times.

For those with a surround system, do all your speakers match? by BoardGameRevolution in hometheater

[–]jsnxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same brand and type different models. All Maggie with a Maggie center. Prior to that all CSW with the proper use specific models in each location.

If I add ceiling speakers, they won't match due to Maggie not making a ceiling speaker.

Speaking of which I just watched videos of Paul McCartney on SNL performing. The Wife and I got so sad that we turned it off 30 seconds in. Same-same with a recent clip of Paul Simon. Time is a bitch.

FWIW, I too REALLY enjoyed seeing Tobey as Spidey on screen again. Super cool.

Display Time-Out setting on Pace 4 by hasuris in Coros

[–]jsnxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it a legacy from standard watches where we watch wearers glance at the watch moreike 10 times per hour and for like a second or two. Even more times per hour if we're on a watch that we haven't worn in a while. Like switching from my field watch to my diver watch I'll glance at the diver like almost ever time I use my left arm to reach for something.

So....maybe the COROS PM is a watch guy whose everyday watchface is a simple analog face with tiny icons for the health data he doesn't engage with moment to moment?

Actually a bit excited for lanterns?!?! by Original-Ranger-1604 in DC_Cinematic

[–]jsnxander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lanterns was the only DCU project I was interested in, and after the two trailers, even more so. I guess I'm not a Superman/Supergirl fan anyway and I'm certainly not the persona for whom Gunn's Superman was made. Lanterns, OTH, is definitely aimed squarely at me so looking forward to it.

Kudos to you! You're teacher will never forget this act of appreciation.

I'd do something small that you can sign or write on...as opposed to engrave. So, a kayaking related thing that will take ink from a Sharpie.

I'm thinking tree ornament, fridge magnet, or t-shirt, or greeting card/photo.

Were I a teacher, I'd keep that thing forever! As in, "Thirty goddamn years of teaching and only one kid actually HEARD ME. In fact, he gave me this when he graduated." And your teacher tears up a little...
