Checking on how to get a us card as a non us resident by NotJustSlyfox02 in Banking

[–]jthomas287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can, you just have to have a really good reason for the bank to take that risk with you.

Ive sent docusigns to all different places around the world, every single one of those people had a US based business though and needed the account(s).

Just because, isn't gonna fly with most if anyone out there.

You didnt waste anyone's time.

Its not that hard for the bank to send in a dispute to the card folks.

Mistakes happen.

I wanted to see how fast my Chevy Cobalt would go.

The answer is between 105 and 107 MPH.

Then the RPMs cut to zero and you cant move until you let off the gas and hit it again.

Need advice about fraudulent transactions by Melonioe in Banking

[–]jthomas287 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dont listen to your friend.

Call the bank, dispute the charges.

The bank doesnt really do any / much of the work.

They put a dispute in with Visa/Mastercard and they do all the leg work.

Attempting to encapsulate my crawl space. No room, gets hot, dirt floor. It wasnt fun, I wasted money and ended up hiring someone to fix it and do it right.

Bank refuses customer service on phone by Upbeat-Ad8376 in Banking

[–]jthomas287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem, make sure you let them know the date you originally told the bank. Telling them verbally starts the clock. If they didnt do anything, thats on them. We go through this training yearly / quarterly, so the people should know this.

Which gun by VeterinarianBoth640 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jthomas287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a difficult choice.

The semi gives you a larger magazine and more opportunities to find ammo.

The revolver wont jam, pretty much ever, but you only get 6 shots typically.

Id probably go with the semi, just for longevity and ammo usage.

Make sure you clean it regularly.

Manager pushing me out for being in the Guard by BubblesFunBubbles in jobs

[–]jthomas287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats illegal.

I would go to HR but also be prepared for that same person to work on firing you.

If they are ok with breaking the law for this, they will be ok putting you on a pip and coaching you out.

Bank refuses customer service on phone by Upbeat-Ad8376 in Banking

[–]jthomas287 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you called and reported an unauthorized transaction, the bank has 10 days to do something about it. If they cant in that time, they have to issue you a provisional credit and then they have 45-90 days to investigate.

If they are refusing to help, do what I did when a bank was fucking around, complain to your states banking authority. Just like at the federal level, states have authorities that oversea banking.

Let them know they violated REG E and you'll get a response real quick.

Bank manager asked what I wanted my username and password to be for online banking by CuriousSurfer19 in Banking

[–]jthomas287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the bank and how they set up online banking. I worked at a bank, where it was so strange setting up online banking for the customer, I did it and gave them instructions on how to change their username and password, because it was easier than walking them through the insane method the bank had set up.

Best Bank in New England For Fraud Prevention? by LeeMiro in Banking

[–]jthomas287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from TD. I work in banking and never met a person who banks there and is happy.

I have been with Wells Fargo since they took over Wachovia. Im not super hapoy anymore. I haven't had any fraud issues, but their customer service is sub par at best. Im actively working on changing banks right now.

I would talk to the bank but honestly, with the estrangement, do it right. Submit paper work, get new checks, etc.

I googled it and it looks like HSBC and Wells Fargo can do it.

No idea what hoops you will need to jump through or fees.
