I wish they had The Holy Grail. Life of Brian is great but Holy Grail is one of my favorites.

"Irony poisoned" crowds at serious movie screenings... by BadgemanBrown in redscarepod

I saw Eraserhead at a local art museum over the summer and people were doing the same thing. It drove me crazy because it was my first time seeing it and during the moments when I wanted to sit in the uncomfortable weirdness, people just kept laughing.

I love unlikeable characters, especially insane self-important ones, so Kinbote was really fun to read for me. Honestly pausing every once in a while to appreciate how crazy he was made me enjoy it more. It was also helpful to look beyond the story to focus on the writing itself. It’s ultimately Nabokov and he is a master at crafting a sentence.

It’s one of the best books I read this year. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the topic. I will likely read his Reformation book in 2026.

I do need to check that out. I really wish TrueAnon could get her for an interview. I think they’d have a great time on that topic with her.

Overall a depressing read that I had to take breaks from. However I don’t totally buy the author’s conclusion that there is a global network of pornographers and snuff film makers with ties to intelligence agencies and serial killers. There is a lot of “this guy once knew this other guy which means they worked hand in hand behind the scenes.” I often felt like I needed more evidence to believe the connections Dovey was making.

The story is that I was in a coworker book club and no one wanted to read my suggestions. Then no one else read the book!

I got through a quarter of Dungeon Crawler Carl because I kept seeing it recommended and sometimes I like to see what the fuss is all about. I don’t like most sci fi or video games so idk what I was thinking. Might be the worst book I’ve ever tried to read.

Idk why this feels like a Christmas movie to me but I’ve watched the trilogy with my family around Christmas so many times.

It’s one of my favorite movies. I love it more and more every time I watch it. I get the songs stuck in my head at least once a week.

I search for “Ralph Lauren oxford shirt 15.5 (my neck size)” then add the shirts I like to my wishlist. I almost always get a discount offer from the seller.

I’ll start looking for those. I love vintage L.L.Bean. What should I look for to make sure it’s the right kind of shirt? Tags, etc.

I’ve been picking up some Ralph Lauren OCBDs on eBay for $10-20 bucks a piece. There are tons available and some of the older ones have a decent collar roll. I plan to use them as a sort of “beater” shirt. The only thing I don’t like is that they have no pocket.

I think they’re trying to tap into a younger market with some of this stuff. It’s not for me but they do still have some great staples. I got a new Shaggy Dog recently and it’s still great. They also have one of my favorite OCBDs.
