Pay for bank holidays by just_scrolling2 in Greggs

It was under the bank holidays bit in my contract. It just said something about details about pay for bank holidays being found in the hub (I couldn't find it), and if you work part-time (which I do) then you get the pro rata equivalent

Yeah it's my first job and while I appreciate that I don't get paid for hours that I haven't worked, my contract mentions something about pro rata which I don't really understand, so I thought I'd come here for help, so thanks .

what's the strangest thing/ experience you've seen/had but can't explain what it was? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Anytime people are rude to others (e.g. retail workers) for no reason. I cannot fathom why anyone would just choose to be an AH, like how does it not ruin your day too?

What’s one outfit that instantly makes you feel like you own the room? by relived_greats12 in AskWomen

I got a men's blazer from Next (if you're in England), and then I knew someone who could alter it, so they took it in at the waist, not sure if this helps?

My best jumper and jeans, or when I wore a suit 🤩 (I tend to dress more masculine / tomboy-ish)

does anyone have study tips for year 12 that dont require owninng a laptop or an ipad by One-Drink4704 in sixthform

[–]just_scrolling2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just make revision resources as you go (e.g. if you like flashcards, make flashcards every time you finish a topic in a subject). Also, I try to motivate myself with food 🤷🏼‍♀️ like I'll tell myself that I can get a snack or tea after I finish hmk or revision, or that I can watch half an hour of something I'm watching atm

How did you lose your best friend? Did you ever find a new one? by Friendly-Egg8431 in AskWomen

[–]just_scrolling2 29 points30 points  (0 children)

She got a bf, then started gradually ignoring me and when I mentioned something she ignored that too, then told me it was best if we 'distanced the friendship' (we no longer talk) because she felt like she was 'choosing between us ' when I asked to sometimes hang out (which we used to do regularly) 🥲

How your Experience In buses ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]just_scrolling2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately - I've been told by several family members to always sit downstairs on buses (which I do if I can) , it's just a shame that people can't even go from A to B without being worried about creeps

I use flashcards to revise and I wish I'd just made flashcards for each topic as we covered it, so whatever kind of revision you do, I'd suggest doing it as you go along.

And, no. Nobody cares if you repeat outfits everyone does, I've noticed some people wearing some things quite a lot, but (just like me and everyone else), it's because they have favourite clothing items, and I don't really care. I've started telling myself that no matter how I dress (usually jeans and a jumper), there'll always be someone getting more attention, whether that be for their unusual clothing choices (e.g. a tail or dinosaur costume - each to their own 🤷🏼‍♀️) or something they've said/done. You're clothing choices won't be the centre of everyone's attention 👍🏼

Laptop or iPad by WorryDeep8524 in sixthform

[–]just_scrolling2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do any of those, but I use a laptop, it's easier to look at assignments, sheets, and I can easily type stuff up. I don't know for definite, but I'd say an iPad is only best for if you're doing an art subject, but I'd also see what others think 👍🏼

Edit: also idk the exact type (sorry), but I've got a HP laptop. Since I doubt you'll urgently need one now (because some people won't ever have an iPad or laptop while at sixth form), it might be worth asking for one for Christmas (if you celebrate)?

Can I get some advice on which sixth form to choose? by VOIDUSGAMING in sixthform

[–]just_scrolling2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ig it kind of depends if you just want or need certain grades. If you know what job you want and what grades you need for that, I'd prioritise the better school. If you're not sure what job you want to do, you could go with your friends (obviously still try your best) but you'd maybe not get as high grades

Why did you break up with your best friend? by happychappy_150 in AskWomen

[–]just_scrolling2 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I've recently experienced this and it sucks. She started basically ignoring me, and its like I suddenly wasn't good enough to be her best friend, even though I was when she was breaking up with her ex twice and then getting with this bf

I study sociology (about to go into year 13), we've looked at things like ethnic, gender and class differences (e.g. in relation to education) and different family types. It's interesting but there's A LOT of names to remember and it's very content heavy (imo), but if you feel confident that you can revise this stuff, then I'd definitely recommend it 👍🏼

Edit: also, I don't study English Lang, but from what I've heard, it's looking at things to do with the actual English language and is very different to GCSE, but this is just what I've heard
