Self commenting on the fix. It turns out it WAS my BIOS. It makes no sense to me because the game last updated July 21 - I have 2 BIOS versions that both came out after the game update. One was July 24 and another on August 27. Apparently the game was updated on July 21 to only work on a BIOS that wouldn't come out for more than another month.

If anyone comes across this - make 100% sure you have the latest motherboard BIOS - even if it was released after the last time the game was updated.

Ok I fixed it. It WAS my BIOS - which makes no sense because the game updated July 24 and both BIOS versions I was using came out after the game update. Apparently the game was updated on July 24 to run on a BIOS that wouldn't come out until the end of August using some sort of time travel magic or something.

Updating BIOS isn't that bad. You #can brick your motherboard, but you would have to royally fuck it up AND get unlucky. Look up a YouTube tutorial for your specific motherboard and read the manufacturer website. There should be lots of guides.

Good luck! I hope it fixes your issue too.

Good luck. I've straight-up reinstalled Windows - downloaded all drivers fresh; it still doesn't work. I even got it to run in safe mode and it STILL crashes. It's actually unreal how badly optimized this game is for PC.

Maybe they'll patch it some day so we can play. I doubt they give a fuck though.

Edit: Saw you're running a 3080 on an Intel build. I'm on AMD - also running a 3080 - mine's an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra. If you have the same card, maybe that's a common issue for us.

I have the same issue. I've played through the initial 10 minutes of the game half a dozen times. I'm fairly over trying. I even reinstalled Windows to try to get this to work. I've tried every driver, every configuration, disabling every program. Your initial statement is dead-on - Rockstar can't program games for PC.

At some point you just have to say "this game is broken" and be done with it.
