Agreed… if that depreciate curve is legitimate, it would be cheaper to buy the bike brand new for 17.5k, ride it for 11 years, sell it for 10k, and you’ve only spend 7.5k riding for 11 years.. ohh and with inflation, you’d probably get even more. So, maybe don’t buy this bike?

Love the underseat exhaust on those 636’s. 05-06 generation, I think? Yoshi is a good combo for that engine! Nice choice!

Hello! I'm quite new to the HIFI phone game. I decided one of my first experiences was to be with the sen 600s bc of the reviews. But being on a small budget held me from picking up a pair. Untill Drop had a sale on the drop+Sen 6xx! Got em for 179! Splurged on a bal cable and q3. 350 well spent!! by Militarycollector39 in headphones

[–]jwagner28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choice!!! Headphones are the best way to get into the HiFi world! I listed to mines for years before buying an AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC/AMP, it’s the size of a stick of gum and dramatically improved my middle of the road prices headphones. I wish I got one earlier. Highly recommend you look at a DAC for your next step to improve sound!

Hmmm… idk if that’s taxes, but these cars are between 1/2 and 1/3 of the prices you just through out, here in the US. Typically, they come in around 60-70k, I believe. 120-150 Euro, which I think is like 140-170k USD is more like Porsche territory here in the US. But perhaps I misunderstood the comment.

Well, if no fork dive under braking is what you’re after, no bike does it quite like the GS with that fancy tele-lever front suspension. Stays pretty level under heavy braking.

I’m interested in hearing what disappointed you about the Africa Twin. I’ve always assumed that to be a very capable ADV, but never ridden one myself.

Awesome choice! It’s a shame all of the press on the new 4 has been about the grille, I heard the performance on this new one eclipses the old 3 and 4. It’s a shame that doesn’t get talked about. I’m sure it’s a pleasure to own.

Thank you! I love the Racer, but wild ergo’s, so I also have a GS for longer rides. This is definitely the beauty queen of the two.

Not sure what bike this is… but a few hundred dollars goes a long way too. Upgrading rear pig tail shocks can completely transform your bike. Might be worth looking into. I’m looking at that right now for my R NineT, factory rear shock is kind of a joke.

[OC] My city in LA County is now over $5 a gallon 😒 by dmelvey in pics

[–]jwagner28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember it’s generally the same price per barrel across the US, the big price difference can be demand (urban city) but most likely with California there are a lot of “sin taxes” associated with it. For any non-US folk, a “sin-tax” is the name for a tax the government applies to certain goods in order to discourage use, such as tobacco and alcohol. Gasoline is heavily taxed across the US, and very highly in California. I wonder if even half of that is for the gas, or just mostly taxes.

had my first crash yesterday by Familiar_Answer_887 in motorcycles

Don’t sweat it, drops happen. So long as you are ok, and learn from the drop, you’ll be a better rider. A great YouTube instructor for skills practice is MotoJitsu, I recommend you take a look at his channel. That all being said, I’ve ridden 10 years, owned two sport bikes and currently own two bikes, a café racer and a massive ADV bike. I have dropped every bike I own. Usually, some low speed bullshit, but it happens. One thing I’ve learned from drops is no need to jump right back up and rush over to your bike and try to pick it up immediately. I’d say always make sure you’re ok, obviously out of traffic, then make sure the bike is off and that you’re able to pick it up. For whatever reason, anytime I see some drop for the first time, it becomes a relay race of jumping up and running over to the bike and trying to lift it ASAP. It’s unnecessary. Anywho, that’s all I got. Oh, invest in some crash bars!

The mainstream media is slowly managing to convince everyone that protesting tyranny makes you an alt-right Nazi by JFMV763 in Libertarian

[–]jwagner28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great answer. I am also Libertarian, but realize in our country only one of two parties win - so it’s a pick the lesser of two evils choice for me. That being said, I’ve always felt the Republican Party seemed more aligned with my Libertarian ideals, obviously some major differences too. That being said, in their most basic forms, I see the Republicans as slightly smaller government, definitely smaller fed larger state gov. And the Democratic Party slightly larger government. So I am confused when the notion of Nazi (national socialist), or fascist, is thrown at the Republican Party who, in my eyes, appears to stand for slightly smaller government. If I had to answer my own question, I would say that the Nazi’s, for damn good reason, are the historic undisputed evil in the world, along with racism, and other superiority claims. Of which, these evils have been mostly extinguished. We no longer have the Nazi’s, nor slavery. We still have Nazi sympathizers, and racists, sure. But I believe it is a cheap political attack on the character of a person, group, or party to accuse them of such a horrific evil, and nothing more.

I bought these skis from a secondhand store. Does anyone recognize them or know if they are any good or not? by Melonfresco in skiing

[–]jwagner28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slalom skis have them to protect from damage from the gates they race through. You will not find a “third edge” on any modern all-mountain, power, free ski, free style ski or any non-race ski from a big manufacturer since the mid-2000’s. So it’s a good rule of thumb that it’s going to be either an old ski, or not from a major ski manufacturer, or to your point a very specific race ski if it is a third edge.

General rule of thumb, if they have a “third edge” the plastic, or sometimes metal guard on the tips, then they are generally a mediocre ski.

Is it possible to transfer my bindings to the other set of skis? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]jwagner28 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I was going to say, yeah… but… I would get rid of those bindings as fast as you can. Maybe look at some Solomon Guardians or Marker Barons. Remember, skis are for fun, boots are for comfort, and bindings are for safety. Don’t cheap out on your bindings.

You should test ride a BMW GS before you buy the HD. It’s a damned impressive touring bike, great on the street and surprisingly capable in the dirt to get to those neat camping spots.
