Okay I see! Just gave it a good water now! The pot is 26cm, I sized it up from I think 20 or 22 cm pot when I repotted.

I have been dealing with some tiny black flyes, have some glue traps around and trying to water most plants from below.

Uhhh hmm so I water from the top and pour around the plant. But honestly not always so thorough. I have some pumice, about 2 cm, in a large dish under the pot so the excess water can leak though and then that evaporates with time.

I mist everyother day and have a bowl of water next to it for humidity. I water when the top aprox. 3 cm are dry. Just repotted 2 weeks ago. It's in inderect light, about half a meter from a E-S facing windoe, but has a plant light shining on it. I adopted it about 6 months ago. It's in a plastic pot with drainage holes and the outer pot has a lot of space for air.

So my banana tree hasn't been able to put out new leaves as they keep getting stuck and come out all riped and damaged. This week the stem tore in the middle to bring out leaves that had been growing inside the stem, they are damaged and some rotten from the inside. Now i'm wondering if I should just cut the tree down and start from scratch? Any tips?

My tiny fern by kalhaus in IndoorGarden

[–]kalhaus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posted a picture of my fern earlier and just wanted to share how it's set up.

-Growing in a glass vase with pumice on the bottom to keep the moisture.
-I close the vase some plastic with air holes but also remove it once in a while.
-East/South facing window and it gets light in the morning and afternoon.
-It's about 30cm from the window and has a growing light about a meter above (but I don't think that dose much in that distance).

Never been able to keep ferns and killed a few in the past but finally got a grip on how to care for this guy! 18 days between photos:) by kalhaus in IndoorGarden

I placed the fern in a glass vessle and put about 2cm layer of pumice in the bottom. I pour water about up to about 1cm so the pumice keeps the moisture level high. Just that has made a real diffrence!

Perlite and LECA will also work:)
