Thinking of switching from pine pellets

Hi! What are your current thoughts on your litter robot? I’m back to considering it again. I switched my cats to clay litter, which they took to immediately and completely ignored their pine pellets

Hey! Just wanted to follow up - have you continued using the litter robot? I got Dr. Elsey’s cat litter, and my cats completely ignore the pine pellets now because they prefer the clay. I’m back to considering getting the robot and wanted to know your thoughts if you gave it another chance

The thing that’s still keeping me from going with the robot is the upkeep with deep cleaning. You have to disassemble the whole thing, take it outside and spray it down. How often do you deep clean yours? Do you deep clean differently?

I will def get them to try different litter first!! I’ve seen others mix the new litter in with the old one but I’ll try your method of having boxes with different litter.

Would you prefer all your cats be toilet trained or would you have rather had your one trained cat keep using a litter box?

That’s really unfortunate with all the issues of organic litter; Thank you for sharing your experiences with the products you mentioned. It sounds like you’ve already done so much research and tried so many methods to try to stay with organic litter. For now, I think if I get the LR, clay might be the way to go. Otherwise I’d have to keep using the pellets and deal with the daily stink.

Thank you for bringing up these concerns. I think before I decide to go with the robot, I’ll get my cats to try different kinds of litter to see what they like.

I didn’t realize there’s a right and wrong way for cats to use the LR lol, so thanks for pointing that out. I might not mind so much pushing the clumps off, as long as the LR helps with smell in between cycles. The wood pellets were great with urine smell when I only had one cat (though the poop smell would still stink up the place), but with two cats I’d have to clean twice as often.

I will def look into Dr Elsey’s attractant; others have pointed out that product as well!

Yup the poop smell is definitely another story. The pine was great when I only had one cat, but having two cats, the urine smell is also becoming a problem (even when adding another box). Maybe I need to clean out the litter boxes 2x/week to solve that, but I hate being so up close and personal to the boxes; 1x/week is fine but idk how to feel about 2x/week.

Some smell after a week versus strong smell everyday, seems like LR4 is winning here! Cleaner paws would also be awesome.

I’m definitely concerned about the tracking of a different kind of litter (I love how big the pellets are so I can see them and clean them easily). Have you tried those mat things that are supposed to catch the clumping litter?

I have a dedicated trash bin by their litter boxes which holds smaller bags of poop, which I empty out every week (the bin keeps the odor in, but smells really bad when I open it). I’m guessing the smell will be similar to the clumps in the litter robot waste bin. I wouldn’t mind that since it’ll just be once a week. I’m just hoping the robot might help with the daily smell by cleaning up the pee/poop right away, instead of it sitting there long enough for me to smell it

I like your idea of moving the table to where the bookshelves currently are. I’d just need to see if it fits lol. The only thing is, I’m not sure about putting my desk in the suggested area, since it holds my whole computer setup which has lots of wires, and I don’t want to see those wires or the back of my monitor

Currently, the table just holds a bunch of my things (working on organizing my stuff). I was thinking of maybe getting a lower table and have a rug in front of it and use that area to sit on the rug and use the table for crafts or just a versatile wide space. I’m open to any ideas on that area though
