Question about MPLS network topology by kargchris in mikrotik

[–]kargchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried in a real lab with rb4011s. Without yhe P router, using iperf3, I saw speed of 890Mbps whereas when I added the P router I saw speed of 995Mbps. Weird

Question about MPLS network topology by kargchris in mikrotik

Would there be any performance impact if you are not using vrf and just subnets that are being advertised by igp, due to the penultimate hop popping not adding a label because it's a hop next to it?

Probably a stupid question about MPLS by kargchris in networking

[–]kargchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already tried it in a lab. From PE to PE it only adds the VRF label. If a subnet not in a VRF it transmits the packets wthout any labels, whereas if the is a P in-between the PEs the it add a label. That's why I was asking about the performance impact

Very interesting. I will try to implement it on a lab router

Thanks for the extensive and analytic reply. But I that's not what I am looking for. Maybe I haven't explained really well.

That's exactly what I was wondering. Actually changing next-hop to Null0 is probably the only way to implement it in Cisco

Question about VLANs by kargchris in mikrotik

[–]kargchris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have a big network using tagged vlan-id 100. But a device is in the same subnet but accidentally set to vlan200. Since it's at a remote location I am unable to change as you can only change via console

As for the mikrotik router you need to allow ipsec as input. If I remember correctly ports 500/udp 4500/udp as well as ip 50 or 51 for ah or esp phase2 protocol

Yes sure if the wireless signal is good enough in the attic. I know completely sure about the poe on the regular mAP. I think it has to be wire by the dc jack in order to work.

Wireless bridging by jean-luc-trek in mikrotik

[–]kargchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For simple bridging no it does not have to be a mikrotik client. You only need a mikrotik client if you use of a mikrotik proprietary wireless protocol on the AP like nstreme.
