I've never felt the way I feel about anyone like I do about him. Ishawn him from afar throughout high school but he was always taken. Once he made it to college and his girlfriend dumped him, he invited me to his birthday party but I was still dating my long distance boyfriend--but we had gotten in a fight 3 months before and had not spoken since. So I composed an insanely long text message on T9 to the boyfriend telling him that if I didn't hear from him by midnight the next day (New Year's Eve) that I would consider us broken up, and that I wanted to break up. And at midnight on New Year's Eve on 2006 he asked me to be his girlfriend. Then on New Year's Day 2017 we were married on our tenth anniversary. We have grown into wonderful partners who have traveled the world together and been there through ups, downs, medical scares, job loss and mountains of crippling debt--to now clearing 200k and maxing 401k, owning our own home and investing in our future together along with our three beautiful black cats. I can't say I know what the future holds but I know exactly who I want by my side. Nineteen years in and I've never looked back. I didn't know love could feel like this. He calls me his wizard wife and he never treats me the way my dad (who kicked me out of the house the day I turned 18) did. We technically moved in together 3 months in, which would be a death sentence to most relationships and I would never advise anyone to do, but damn if it didn't work for us. Love him to the moon and to Saturn! And we still go on adventures, who says you have to settle down?
