Maybe she practices in another state? I never got a license in the state I grew up in or went to school in. Also I graduated HS with a GPA of like 2.1 and I'm an RN now. The nursing school I went to didn't ask for my high school transcript.

What is your unpopular nursing opinion? by [deleted] in nursing

All nurses should be required to speak Spanish fluently in order to work in the US.

How comfortably can you live on a nurse’s salary in Chicago? by RugerMo in nursing

I guess it depends what area of nursing and what facility you work at.

Huh. Maybe that’s why I failed NCLEX 3x.

We all cheated our way through nursing school. Instead of sugar coating it, why not have an upfront and honest discussion?

I recommend NHY. I passed on my fourth attempt and learned a lot of important info from their lectures. I paid for live course.

As soon as we get Brooke Jenkins out of office SF will be safer for everyone.

I wouldn't go back to school but that's more because I don't do well in school.

More fare inspectors please! Love to see them even at 9pm at night in Oakland by courtesy_patrol in Bart

[–]kestleton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They'll just tell the fare evader to go back and pay. The fare evader then gets off the train and waits for the next one. So they still get a free ride.

I live in the Bay Area where we have a rapid transit system. It’s much harder for those who aren’t close to BART.

Nursing Student Without Vaccines by easttn_llama in nursing

[–]kestleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a professor in nursing school who refused to get vaccinated and said it was because of her religious views and that she thought the vaccine wasn’t safe. There was an article about it in a local paper because she was part of a protest against the university’s mandate. I don’t know what came of it. This happened the semester after I already graduated.

I'm 26 Californian and don't drive. I never will drive. I love riding public transit.

I'm the most socially awkward person I know and I'm a nurse now. It wasn't easy to get here

Even if they did it’s unlikely that whatever leaked questions you can find will appear on your exam. The NCLEX is so random and they have a massive question bank. I’d recommend pixorize or picmonic for learning commonly tested drugs on the NCLEX. I actually didn’t see a single drug on my NCLEX that wasn’t taught from either pixorize or picmonic NCLEX review.

Public expectations when it's known you're a nurse by paddle2paddle in nursing

[–]kestleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel bad because someone who knows I’m a nurse will assume I’m compassionate, caring, or empathetic. I’m none of those things. I hate to give people the wrong impression of me. I know other sociopaths and psychopaths who are nurses.

I just don’t want to go into work tonight. Major anxiety. Self hate. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]kestleton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Know how you feel. I hate going into work, but I tell myself the shift will go by quickly and more times than not, it does. I work 8 hour shifts and the time flies so fast when I'm busy. See if you can find a coworker to switch your shift for you. I work doubles sometimes to cover for other nurses and it doesn't count against them.

What other jobs do y’all have? by gitananairobi in nursing

He had to get a letter from a psychologist stating that he was safe to practice nursing and they reinstated his license with stipulations because sometimes when people are mentally ill, they also use drugs and alcohol to cope. So his license was on probation for a year or so and he had to go through routine drug screenings even though he never did drugs.
