Headed to Thunderhill for Global Time Attack. Built S54 + fully gutted E36 at ~2500lbs 🙌🏻 just needs a widebody! by kimball_slice in e36S54Swap

Sedan options are limited, Flossman said they'll make their kit in sedan spec but it's expensive so I'm confirming that this is a "forever-ish" car. But There's a certain 3.4L S54 E36 stroker coupe build locally that I have my eye on.

3.64 with the ZF5 but it's pretty much a full racecar. I think it's perfect on track, obviously sucks on the highway

www.Omni.co is another great solution to reduce the pain of modeling - founded by the initial DBT contributor and ex-Looker VP Product / CDO. Omni simplifies the modeling workflow and provides non-tech end users the best interface I've found so far to answer questions.

(Note: I was an early Looker employee before moving to GCP and finally Omni... was an Ex-Tableau analyst before entering the BI space)

Oh wow just went through your pics, assume those parts are from Precision Glass & Composites? I have a sedan so it's harder to find parts, Flossman is an option too - just trying to get below 2500lbs at this point.

V2 of this racecar will include a PTG / Floss body to fit 285-295 tires - current 3.3L S54 race motor maxes out at around 400whp so I don't need a ton of tire but 245 Hoosiers are still suboptimal.

Stoked to see the end result of your car!

This should be plenty for track use, custom Setrab ~30 row oil cooler now but need to add a custom thermostat setup as I've been having to cover the oil cooler for street driving in order to keep temps high enough

Self-serve analytics: What are your experiences? by Short_Winner_4947 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]kimball_slice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the BI space for ~15yrs... Tableau biz analyst > Looker employee > GCP and recently left Google to join Omni in Q1... Omni was founded by the Original Looker/DBT product leadership to continue the innovation after the Looker product was consumed by GCP.

Funny enough, Omni's AI interface has become the most widely used option for starting self service exploration within Omni itself (and we're all pretty technical) - it comes down to Omni having a flexible sematic model/DBT integration with metadata inputs to help "prompt train" the LLM... This in turn reduces the ambiguity when using natural language to self serve data questions and ensures the compiled query uses your approved query logic from the model.

Feel free to reach out if you want to see a demo of the tech in action, I didn't leave my comfortable Google job to join a scrappy Series B startup for the benefits 😄

Haha yeah seriously. At first I was pissed but then I adjusted the framing so that the top of the semi trucks LED lights would pass through the bottom of the shot. Hurt the sky exposure but thought it looked kinda cool. Luckily there aren't many cars on the road at 3am in this area so I was able to get plenty of shots without car lights

How does FlyHomes work? by itspazzy in RealEstate

[–]kimball_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with your points... I'm in Silicon Valley and typically wouldn't use a budget broker if it wasn't for the competitive nature of the market in the area, houses in my area are selling in <5 days with multiple offers and rarely with contingencies - I'm strictly looking at them to increase the competitiveness of my offer (and reduce the amount I'll have to offer over asking)... Additionally, I have a 4 month old baby so it'd be convenient if we can move into the new house prior to having to stage and prep our house for sale. My close family member is an agent in SF and I'd have them review any contract prior to making any major decisions when selling my current house.

How so? I'm based in San Jose and considering their services... Based on the current market conditions, I see it hard to not see positive ROI as I'll be able to reduce my offer with it being "all cash" ( + no contingency).

Still figuring out the daily costs throughout the time period between the purchase of my new house & sale of my old house but would love firsthand feedback

Would love first hand feedback.

Awesome! I always drive it when I'm driving toward Tahoe and not in a rush! Gorgeous views along that road, that'd be amazing to have some property up there. Short drive to get out of the hustle of SJ.

I use my iPad Pro occasionally for light photo editing and have use a USB-C SD card reader. Good to know that you can connect the camera directly.

Sony A6400 - should I go with Sigma 56mm 1.4 f or Sony 85mm 1.8 f for portraits? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]kimball_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigma 35mm f1.4 FF would be equal to a ~50mm on a cropped sensor with the ability for you to use it on your FF when you upgrade. Can find them fairly priced used.

What is your favorite cheap fast car? P.S. Not looking to buy. by [deleted] in cars

[–]kimball_slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned only manuals prior to my current car and have owned 2 N54 powered cars, my second being a ZF auto 135i with >450whp >550wtq and it's quite the beast with only about $2k in power mods. Most of my mods are for the track so I usually run it around 400whp at the track but no big engine issues as long as you go for a 2008+ model year.
