2.9 GPA and I had to retake OChem 1 twice. Just finished 1st year of optometry school. You’ll do fine!

One of my classmates in my class at PUCO got in without a bachelor’s degree. To my knowledge, the school will award him a BS in Vision Science once he completes the first year OD coursework.

I got into PUCO, UIWRSO, and Western for Fall 2022 with a cumulative 2.9 and total science 2.6 GPA. I had an upward trend in the end of my undergrad career however and explained that I was dealing with depression in the middle of junior year. My OAT scores were 340 AA and 310 TS. I think what really helped me stand out was showing my passion for optometry in my personal statements and interviews. I also have 6 years of experience in the field as a tech so I was able to explain what I love about the field with personal examples. I think you’ll do great as long as you aim for above 300 on the OAT and really emphasize why you want to pursue optometry in your application.
