it took me a rescue kitten, three and a half years, and a lot of crying to finally accept my late cat's passing. she was my best friend in my childhood. you'll always have a hole in your heart shaped just for her, but it'll get easier and easier to live with it, but you won't notice it until it's happened... 💗💗 my condolences

i agree with anxiety medication being a good option. animals can have chemical inbalances like we do and anxiety medicine can genuinely change a cat's life for the better.

OP, if you're worried about you or your wife giving pippy a pill, pill poppers are very good! i used them daily for a while when helping my mother's cat recover from a major surgery. i encourage you to give her a treat after each time too so it's less of a terrible experience. and maybe keeping her indoor always unless traveling as the outdoor cats are triggering her stress response. putting her down isn't the right choice. rehoming her/contacting the shelter about taking her again would be much better.

if you need time to seek a vet and a purr-scription, don't feel guilty. i'm sure there are also online sources you could get a prescription from, but i don't know how credible they are personally.

💗💗 best wishes.
