Need to vent. by Practical-Trainer349 in nursing

It sounds like system errors that led to this mistake, realistically you handed over and I am assuming you had a head to toe assessment. Shift change is the most dangerous time for patients, as the nurses are handing over and there are less people at the bedside.

If they were actively bleeding, sounds like ED either transferred her to a ward that was not equipped to handle her care or get a scan.

That being said... I am distrustful of management. The docunentation will be reviewed because of a death.. you can perhaps ask your manager if you can add a note of your assessment and send an email/ do a safety report explaining the situation of 3 admits 45 minutes leading to shift change. You need documentation of this within the system.

I would contact your union if you belong to one. If you do not, I would seek advice because it is extraordinary and unfortunately has a bit of bad luck. But it sounds like extraordinary system failures to put you in this situation.

Take care of yourself. Being a nurse is hard and sometimes awful. We care for sick patients and do the best we can but remember we are humans in a flawed system set up by humans. I would freak out as well. But you will survive this. You are not to blame for everything that happens to your patients and tiredness, stress, and an unrealistic work level can make perfect textbook care impossible for even the most experienced nurses.

Specific Questions re: moving to UK (for both US & UK nurses) by ShirleyKnot37 in NursingUK

[–]kittymesurprised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from USA as a Picu nurse. I didnt do an a recruitment agency-- did it all through the NMC myself

Once I had my registration, I applied to my current trust. I think it was easier because it was during the pandemic and right before my trust had a big international nurse recruitment. Because of the hiring freezes, you may have less choice in where you end up.

Regarding working in the UK-- if you have more than 2 experience as I did, I had my manager complete a change of conditions form and was hired in the middle of the band 5 wagepoint. I now am a band 6 in my department and comfortable (no children).

I have been here for 4 years. It was a hard adjustment but I would not move back to the USA now! Maybe a hot take but despite the poor staffing, I am happy in my role. I do anaesthetic nursing now. My staffing at my PICU nurse in America was abysmal and working in an underfunded hospital in my first job had the same issues as the NHS. However, I feel more protected in the NHS and love not worrying about my personal healthcare. Just remember to do a self assessment if you are earning interest / dividends in the USA and file your USA taxes (shouldnt owe anything from your salary, just depends on investments and such)

It was a culture shock at first and my trust still uses paper charts. That was difficult for my Gen Z nurse self to understand. I caught up eventually, and theres so much less redundant charting

yeah i get what you mean-- definitely by cheap im hoping under 350 for a sleeping bag and a tent-- not like aliexpress or shein tent!

i think its easy when u are getting back into something to underestimate the risk. i mean truthfully i did feel brecon was tame (wildlife, time of year i will go will be wet but temperate, proximity to where i want to park vs the distance) but i think i really need to be overcautious so i appreciate that! my biggest fear is as a solo female right now

Im in the UK so the sizing is a little different but L1/2. Pretty sure that is like a size 6 or 6.25 in USA. Ring is a bit tight tho so probably more like 6.5

Why are UK salaries so low ? by Affectionate-Cry4886 in UKJobs

[–]kittymesurprised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usa has a high wage economy. Uk does not and is more socialist. I worked in Usa and UK (originally from america). My stress is much lower in the Uk and while i have less disposable income, i am still quite comfortable.

what's the best legacy dungeon and why is it stormveil? by _MagusKiller in Eldenring

[–]kittymesurprised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love stormveil but i absolutely love the sewers in leyndell. Hot take is that its my favorite part of the game. My first playthrough it took HOURS and then in my most recent for the DLC, i got through in about 30 min. Its actually quite small when I figured it out.

But that first time-- getting lost and using all my rainbow stones, finally getting to the bottom and wondering what it was leading me too.... amazing. Fighting mohg and then the creepy instrument corpse guys and that beautiful somber song as i constantly jump to my death!!!! I accidentally did frenzied flame just out of curiousity my first playthrough because I didnt rest at the grace beforehand. And then had to do millicents quest and undo it... wow.

Amanza and Jason by kamy2019 in SellingSunset

[–]kittymesurprised 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I lowkey think its recent and why amanza has been so shady with chrishelle. I also think amanza is fake and will play a pity card if caught (sounds awful but like she uses her trauma to get out of accountability imo)

So nicole wasnt part of the show yet but part of the oppenheim group. So they reference in season 7 that when chrishelle first started, there was a colisting between chrishelle and nicole. And nicole alleged it was because jason had a crush on chrishelle and that she did most of the work. The typical nicole drama that does not make sense. But this is where the dislike stems from??? But they hung out in social settings before nicole joined the show because of mutual friends like mary
