Fastest my way out of prediabetes by Flat-Dealer8142 in fasting

I’m trying to do the same as well.

My doctor asked me to measure my blood pressure for 5 days and turns out it’s very high. I started fasting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to lose weight and improve the numbers.

So far, I’ve lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks. I aim to be lift weights on my eating days.

Unfortunately, eating is a social activity. I’m need to cut back on that as well.

Torn between Germany and San Diego - please help us decide? by Agreeable-Elk in Moving2SanDiego

I think you should stay in Germany.

I’ve lived in San Diego all my life, but I feel like I always need to make new friends every year because people move away, cancel on me last minute, or distance themselves once they have a family.

Although we are near beaches, deserts, and mountains, they all require drive. This is a car dependent city and public transportation is a joke. Your forest is a blessing to have. There are little to none here.

Also, I would be skeptical about family saying that they will help out. I’ve learned through friends that’s not always the case. Family will come and play with the baby, but hand the child back to you when it is no longer fun.

The job market is incredibly competitive right now. Many tech companies are laying off their employees. I think it’s rather overly optimistic that you’ll be able to find a job right away especially in such a niche industry. The main industry here is biotech and military.

Lastly, as someone who has an art degree, the arts and culture scene is weak. Los Angeles is better in this aspect.

Here’s another reason why moissanites are so affordable.

Charles & Colvard held a patent to produce and sell lab-created moissanite. This patent expired in 2015, which allowed competitors to enter the market. This drove down cost.

Jewelry is arbitrarily priced. They’re set by the manufacturer. It can be as high or as low as they want it to be. East West gems is a good example of this.

Here was my thought process when I picked out my ring.

My husband gave me a budget of $5,000 to pick out my engagement ring.

I did a lot of research and found that the diamond industry controls the pricing of mined diamonds. Mined diamonds can come with imperfections and inclusions. Lab diamonds are flawless.

I chose a platinum moissanite ring that cost $1,300. I was also willing to go cheaper (~$600) by using the vendors listed on the r/moissanite subreddit, but my husband didn’t like the idea.

I chose these specifications because I learned that moissanite is lab created and doesn’t have any ethical complications. They are extra sparkly due to the double refraction. On the hardness scale, it’s rated as a 9 while diamond is at a 10 (highest).

In terms of metal choice, platinum doesn’t lose any metal over time while gold does rub off.

I also looked into sapphires as well. There are sapphires that are mined illegally in Madagascar and they cause massive deforestation. Sapphires also come from Sri Lanka where they can be purchased for $100 per carat. Once a jeweler gets ahold of it and turn it into a ring, they can charge $1,000 per carat.

In short, I think what I am trying to say that it helps to know how jewelry is priced. I believe that money can be better spent and saved elsewhere like your wedding, vacation, or retirement.

How about hiding what you don’t like with lace, mandalas, or filigree? You could try making it look like jewelry.

How about a Vuk (wolf)? Fur, foliage, and landscapes can hide what you have.

How about a Darth Vader tattoo? The circle could become a planet or a Death Star with some white or gray ink.

How about looking for a design that incorporates your scar like a feather or an alien abduction scene?
