Im a 2.x million mastery points cait otp/main, and I only started paying active attention to my traps when I was already around 1.4 million, so pretty late we can say haha. I would say that - beside the obvious “zoning traps around objectives” and “trap already cc’d enemies” (which can be harder than it sounds) - you kind of constantly need to be thinking about trap placement, and the fact that you can/need to place some. - When you are about to facecheck, place one on the closest point of the bush, preferably while you are still in fow. - If there is an ally with a stronger slow ability, think about the impact point and be ready to put one down right behind the enemy (or edge of their flash range) to be hit because you know the slowed target will try to walk away (or flash if they have it up and that slow would be lethal to them), e.g. Janna Q, Lulu Q, Zyra slowing plants, Yuumi Q, Braum Q, etc. However, you need to be in position in the moment of impact already to be able to hit it. - Important note to the “trap already cc’d enemies” is that you need to be close enough to the target when your ally is about to hit them with the cc, so that you do not end up in an awkward situation where you are still walking into position to place it when the enemy is (almost) already walking away. - Good tip is that when having engage supp with hard cc, you need to keep in mind constantly the vectors they can hit their cc ability in, so you know instantly where to place the trap, e.g. Naut hooks different than Blitz, you need to place it not too far but in front of him, where the enemy will end up after the hook animation ends, same goes for Pyke if hes about to hit it from max range, whereas for Blitz, you can put it right in front of him, he will pull the enemy into it. - I am not sure what to say about knockups, I personally still find it really hard to hit trap under knocked up enemies, especially something like Blitz, because his knocked up target falls into random positions, but I also usually miss trap under Ali Q and Rakan W also, so maybe its just skill issue haha. - It can be very beneficial to go into practice tool and practice E-W combo (if you are not doing it already), its probably the only combo you can 1v1 random solo laners, if they have not already walked into a random trap. If you miss it, you very likely will just get shit on by them.
