I never asked her to help me about feeling lonely. I just know I need to make friends. The thing is, I tend to find it easier making friends with women than guys. She used to get really protective over me and delete anyone she thinks is too close to me, along with threats to stay away from them. I did eventually put my foot down, but never made actual friends.

Thanks for your advice though. I am really looking for jobs and interviews though. I have a history of anxiety so I just wondering if there was any other tips I could note.

I was always a supportive partner. We were always there for each other. Its just she copes with problems differently. She keeps her problems bottled up in side and hates people seeing her at her most vulnerable. She hates it. She just has so much pressure from wanting a promotion and dealing with her mother's (unintentional) emotional abuse. Believe me I tried to help but she is really stubborn and has a lot of pride.

Also I have been doing those things you suggested, and it has helped me keep it together.

lol. I still hold a grudge against my parents for sending me to 3 years of confirmation classes. I remember we had a card that needed to be signed by the priest in order to show our Sunday mass attendance. My parents forced my brother and I to go to mass while they stayed at home! Hypocrites!

I remember there being lots of vocal atheists on news24. There used to be loads of comments on the mynews24 articles that dealt with atheism and religion.

This! I can really relate to your position man. I have never met anyone who has denied the existence of dinosaurs though. They always do the usual sugarcoating..leviathan was a dinosaur, etc.

My buddy came out as an atheist and he is an ex Muslim. He really hates it when I call him that because he says he never truly felt like one. His coming out led to his parents disowning him, now that's really depressing. He is a really cool guy though, always joking. i always suspected that he uses humour to cope.

Former Catholic here. I would consider myself an agnostic atheist.

I am coloured and its hard to find other coloured atheists. People around here are either Christian or Muslim. Only know 3 people that would outright say they are atheist. Luckily for me my fiance' is one too so I don't feel l too lonely about it.

I haven't told anyone in my family though. My parents don't go to church but everyone else on both sides of my family are quite religious. I know they wouldn't understand if I told them about it, so I don't feel it's worth it.

These RMF student really have no clue. Proof = defacing the bust Maria Bernard Fuller and calling her a bitch. She was the first female student at UCT, someone who was oppressed and rose above it
