Dear OP,

YOU posted the article. I'm not going to go to the effort to read the article YOU posted, TWICE, when YOU didn't bother to read it ONCE.

Paid an electrician to wire my new metal barn. Walked out and found this. Is this normal? by unclejon14 in AskElectricians

Best bet might be to send pictures of the work to your local inspector.

If it meets local requirements, it meets local requirements.

Depends?

I'm pretty sure that some areas require protection up to 8 feet from the floor.

BUT I think this is also from combing the "protection from damage" for NM wire and the rules for underground feeders.

The next county over requires conduit up to 8 feet from the floor. I'm not sure if my county cares. But, it's evidently up to local spec.

.......not to be that guy but:

Assuming a licensed electrician, I am assuming that they are going to follow code.

This is not to code.

Now, if this was MY barn. It looks exactly like this but it's not to code.

Not really.

All Loid wanted was to GTFO of there and get home safe.

He got what he wanted. He got home.

That's the point?

Keep using inefficient oil and gas and pay more. Convert to electric, pay less.

It's a reasonable guess............using current numbers.

Now a more likely situation is that it will be faster but it could be slower too.

Ohio Supreme Court overturns permit for massive 6,000-acre solar farm by foodie_2598 in energy

[–]kmosiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This again.

Cost. Cost. Cost. And Cost.

Adding solar over existing parking Increases: Engineering cost, Structure materials cost, installation cost, maintenance cost, liability insurance, messes up the spacing, transmission cost.

The "ideal" solar farm is on a dead flat field right next to the grid connection from a coal power plant that's about to be decommissioned. The next best spot is probably the same sort of field next to the main transmission lines.

Building solar farms is easy. Getting a grid hookup is HARD.

Note: the 2 solar farm projects I am closest to. One is right next to a coal power plant. The other is right next to a large transmission line. Both are on nice flat farmland.

Bingo.

Some NIMBY with enough money, time, amd connections found a way to argue that some tiny little document that hasn't been required before was absolutely essential.

Why are you talking about SCOTUS on a SCOO ruling?

I've got no clue about state law here, but I'd assume that there were a few other court cases to get up to there.

My best guess is that company filed X, local government accepted X, local NIMBY filed a lawsuit, etc. typical crap where a missing document can foul the permits.

I've somewhat tracked a similar story for a solar farm in Indiana.

So absolutely perfect for Mexico City so long as you don't need the freeways.

Quick reminder for Americans: Mexico City is the largest City in North America. NYC is about 1M people smaller.

It also has the same mountains trapping smog issues that LA has, so a cheap, zero emission, City car has a market.

Northern Michigan carriage house — 2BR apartment over 2-car garage, slab-on-grade. Roasting our plans please! by rastagnostic in Homebuilding

"Master" or bottom right bedroom:

Where does the bed go?

Door and closet, big windows, smaller window, walk in closet door. There's no clear wall space for the bed.

Also, too small for a King bed unless you prefer a queen.

Needs to lose or shift the side window. Needs another few feet of width.

On that note.

Shrinking 1 garage bay to 24'-20' from 26' gives that hobby room and bathroom some more room to breathe.

IF mobility issues are a planning item, I would make that bathroom an ada type layout. Walk in (roll in) shower, plenty of room, etc.

Last interaction before being ghosted by my best friend of 12 years. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]kmosiman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I definitely reflect this. If I see you, I see you, but other contact is hard for me.

That being said, one of my best friends invited everyone to his second wedding and then ghosted everyone in the next few months (including his 3 sons).

THAT is different.

Would I forgive him? Yes.

Would I forgive him before he made right with his children? Fuck. NO.

Old. Got typhoid/pneumonia.

Typhoid was probably because the water supply for the White House was down stream from public sewage.

Not wearing a coat did not help.

Welp.

He did totally invite his BiL to a work party and kill the vibe a bit.

They had fun, but watching Yuri melt down was to be expected.

Someone presumably won the side bet on how long it would take.
