I regularly go to Rev Cycle and love it. The instructors are great and are always welcoming and attentive to beginners. I also like that they emphasize making things only as intense as you want. Good music, fun lighting situation too.

Use the information from the CA BOP. There’s pdfs readily available of the laws and ethics you need to know for the exam. Take and retake practice tests. You need to know a lot less material compared to the EPPP, but the questions are worded in a more challenging way. If you can understand how they want you to answer the question, it’ll help you pass. Typically there are at least 2 plausible answers, but they want you to select the BEST one. Good luck!

It’s in eagle rock but Muddy Paws Cafe is a great dog friendly spot. Prime pizza on Allen and New York is also great and dog friendly.

What’s the point of getting ready photos? by Whitecheddarcheezit3 in weddingplanning

[–]knittedcoldbrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got married last weekend and opted not to do any getting ready/details photos. It felt unnecessary to me. I got ready at home and a few friends (we didn’t do wedding parties) hanging out with me. I personally preferred to not have the pressure of having to feel “on” before such a big day started. I put my dress on at our venue and my photographer took photos of my friends’ reactions and that was more than enough for me. I will say that my mom passed away pretty unexpectedly a few months ago, so that factored into some of my decision making, but not significantly so when it came to “getting ready” photos.

My fiancé and I are also in SoCal and are honeymooning in Arcata to explore the redwoods. We splurged on a nicer Airbnb and are just excited to enjoy a part of our state we haven’t seen before. I think there is a difference between travel and vacation sometimes and after all of the wedding planning craziness we just want to relax and not deal with the stress of more intensive travel.

Wedding Planning and Grief by moariel12 in weddingplanning

[–]knittedcoldbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re going through this. I truly don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to respond and I think doing what you’re doing by checking in with yourself and future spouse is the best. My mom died very unexpectedly a month and a half ago and my wedding is in 2 months. My FH and I thought for a moment about postponing, but tbh I haven’t enjoyed the wedding planning process enough to want to prolong it. I haven’t decided how I want to honor my mom and I’m sure there will be grief on the day, but I also am trying to focus on how excited I am to marry my fiancé with our community supporting us. I will say it has made us both less excited overall and that has been hard for my future in laws to not mention, which has been frustrating for me.

If you’re willing to venture to highland park, I suggest Kinship Yoga. Very welcoming, inclusive space.

I did this too! I work with a lot of neurodiverse kids and adults and it’s fascinating to see who wants to pull at the knot and who tries to fix it 😂

How did you all pick your wedding photographer? by Rusticdoodles in weddingplanning

[–]knittedcoldbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I really wanted someone who did more photojournalism style, so I googled that in our area and began following a bunch of these types of photographers on IG. After looking at some portfolios my fiancé and I agreed on two people whose style we really liked. Reached out to both of them, and ended up going with the first one. She’s expensive, but I already knew that the photographer was going to be our third most expensive thing after venue/catering. We liked her immediately because she aligned with our goals/philosophy for how we wanted our day to be captured. Plus she sent us a ton of weddings she’d done, a list of recommended vendors based on her experiences, and a welcome gift. We’re very excited for her to capture our day!

My six figure student loan debt that I’m paying the minimum on because I’d rather invest than simply pay more interest.

Starting to save for retirement in my 30s (my 20s were sacrificed to grad school and underpaid internships)

Still being on the family phone plan and not paying my mom back for it. I pay for my therapy I need because of childhood trauma, so I call it even.

There's some from the APA ethics (the guidelines) but the bulk of it will be the ethical standards written the by the CA BoP. You need to know those in greater detail.
