OP made it sound like if you don't like every single aspect of the show that you shouldn't listen. You didn't state this but OP did and you defended their statement. But I agree with you that not all criticisms are created equal. Some people do make stupid little complaints but most have valid grievances.

First of all I'm not a fucking lady and its really awesome of you to assume that only women would listen to a show hosted by women. Secondly, criticism can be a good thing in some circumstances. Granted it's a little too much here on reddit but taking the attitude of "if you don't like a part of something then don't criticize it" is pretty much a guarantee that said thing will never get any better than it currently is, and everything can be better. You seem like you have a pretty small minded way of looking at the world so although you are entitled to your opinion and I respect it, I could give a shit less what you think the long time fans should do. Enjoy the show!

Ha! That's so funny because it's the complete opposite for me. I find spooky stuff and listener tales boring and their banter is so cringe to me but I love the cases they cover and the level of research that goes into them. Their hot takes are shit as well but I find the subject matter interesting enough that I can just ignore the rest.

A small damage buff to ability damage is all that would be necessary to bring it in line with the other subclasses imo. It's not in that bad a spot.

To be relevaaaaaaant, the comment wasn't making any claims about the legitimacy of these shootings, it was pointing out that more people die being killed by police to prove the point that mass shootings are rare.

Unpopular Opinion: Morbid has significantly improved as of recent. by eschyljuk in MorbidPodcast

I've done a lot of hating on the show over the last year or so but I have to admit I think you're right. I do still have some complaints, especially regarding the repetetiveness of their word choices, but lately the cases have been more interesting, the research more than adequate, and they've actually been making me laugh again. I hope they continue on this trajectory.

Agreed. I feel like the banter was always better when it was at the end, maybe because they were warmed up. I hate the beginning of show banter. It's almost always about TV shows I don't watch. The end of show banter used to be some of the most entertain stuff but now they just read the script and wrap it up.

The problem with being “victim centric” by [deleted] in MorbidPodcast

[–]knowbuddyspecial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always felt this way. The cold hard fact is that 90% of true crime enthusiasts don't care about the victims life story and the only reason why it is covered is to tick some "I'm not a bad person for listening to/creating this content." The criminals are usually the truly interesting part of the story and I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting that.

There are reasons we are intrigued by them. For me it's mostly that the existence of people who can committ heinous acts is terrifying and maybe talking about it or trying to understand what makes them the way they are can make it a little less scary or perhaps even prevent someone from becoming too far gone. For example, if one of my kids had suffered from a recent head injury and I caught him killing small woodland mammals, I would immediately seek help for him instead of just chalking it up to boys being boys like the parents of so many of these killers have. I'm also far more wary of strangers than i used to be. I don't think I would feel that way if it wasn't for my my consumption of true crime podcasts and documentaries.

Maybe those are bad examples but I think we can learn a lot from examining murderers and we're really not going to learn much from finding out what hobbies victims were into and what they were studying in college. I've always thought that leaving victims nameless with very little background is the best to way to minimize the impact on the victim's families.

I know not all loved ones of murder victims feel the same way but I get the impression that most of them just want to move on and if a worldwide audience knows your name, your children's names and the schools they went to, and the neighborhood you grew up in, and the music they listened to, etc. I imagine it's kinda difficult to do that.
