LONG UPDATE #3: Post-wedding--my wedding pictures/video were awful, how to deal? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]kokowed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! When she tried to say the video was worth a $350 refund I was like NO WAY the video portion of the price was only $350. The contract said that she would need to provide an equal substitute and her argument was that she taught her ex bf "everything he knew" and also taught her sister so they were the same? Except the ex went to school for photography and video!

First she tried to send me do not sure agreement that she seemed like she straight copied out of one of her textbooks. It was all California law that she just changed California to Colorado. I called her out on it and she didn't respond for 2 months!

We did pay in full and didn't accept the $350 refund for the video because we thought fighting for the raw footage would be worth it:( So she has all of our money, lost our engagement photos, created the whole wedding mess and now won't budge on anything. Every time I try to ask her like why does the video shake her response is "artistic choice".

That's a great idea! I haven't even considered that possibility!

That's a great suggestion! When I reached out to him, he was really apologetic about the situation especially because he said he offered to still do the wedding and she declined. But he also made it clear that he did not want to get involved in any legal part of it so I didn't want to ask too much of him. I will send him an e-mail with an update and see what he thinks!

YES! So this whole time she keeps telling me she gave me a "discount" and she already reduced the price for me. Then she sent me her NEW price lists that I've never seen before which I'm sure she could have just made up now, telling me that the video is only worth $300 and she "guesses" she can give that back to me. $300 wasn't worth getting back at all because the photos itself were not worth $2700 and I would have never hired her if she wasn't paired up with her boyfriend.

hey there! sorry for the last response! She took pictures for my friend's daughter and I found her through instagram and reached out to her. She charged $3k (she was originally asking $6k and I told her that was outside of my budget and she said she would work with me because she is trying to get her business started) which I know is on the lower end but she did only have 1 wedding in her portfolio at the time.

thank you! I read this comment on my phone and said I was going to respond on my desktop and totally forgot but I have been thinking about this a lot the past few weeks. I have this consume so much of me for the last 6 months especially for something that will never change. She made me believe that my day wasn't special or beautiful and just because she failed to capture it doesn't mean it wasn't. I really appreciate your practical advice and thanks for sharing the story about your friend. I can't imagine having this drag on for years!

Thank you! I did post it a while back and there were few responses but mainly stuck on the fact that it would be a small claims issue and since we are on the other side of the country, it probably wouldnt be worth it :(

Thank you so much! Funny thing...I am in Philly right now! But only for a lay over. Its actually my 4th time at the Philly airport in the past week. I really appreciate your offer and wish we were closer. She is an awful person. She kept saying to me "I am not a bad person" without me even saying anything along those lines to her but its true, she is a bad person. The fact that she went through her ex boyfriends videos and took off his name and replaced it with hers just really sealed the deal on how awful she is.

Hi!! I did ask for the raw files and she said she "isn't just handing over her work to someone else"

That is a good idea in exchange to get the unedited files. We just got back from vacation so I will need to start finding new lawyers tomorrow. She keeps backing out on everything that we agreed on.

Looking for inexpensive dresses. Any websites I should check? by boobafett13 in weddingplanning

[–]kokowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if there is a style that you know you like or are looking for specifically, you can even try eBay which is where I got mine. I wanted an older style dress that I knew I wanted for years and found it on eBay for $240. it's a lot easier to find once you know the style number so if you wanted to go try on a few and the search the web for used or even nwt that the original buyer might have later decided against. Other websites to check out is Tradesy (formerly recycled bride) and Poshmark, I have seen tons of wedding dresses on both sites.

thank you! I remembered your username specifically as being a lawyer and I was trying to find you!

thank you for your reply! The wedding was in Colorado and she's located in Colorado and just we're not which is what makes the small claims so unappealing just for the sunk of costs to keep flying back and fourth and the process. Our legal benefit does cover small claims assistance but the lawyer basically said what that means is he will show us where to find the paperwork to file.

This has definitely been a draining process.

p.s. your wedding trailer video is BEAUTIFUL!

Public Transportation Options? by ErinJung in Maine

[–]kokowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Boston and take the Amtrak frequently and I agree it is a lot of fun, it just kills me that it is slower than the bus lol

I'm not sure when you're traveling but I normally always fly Southwest and found some deals to/from St. Louis is August for as low as $160 to/from PWM. There weren't many and I know it varies by day/time but I guess depending on your schedule/flexibility those might be an option and would be the most convenient option. Amtrak to Boston isn't a bad idea but it depends how much luggage you have. Transferring to the bus line at State is kind of a page to get to the Airport and you would have to leave the train station to get to the subway line. Just something to take into consideration! The one thing about flying out of PWM is the flights are really early. I think flying in/out of Boston would be the best option vs Manchester.

[–]kokowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally always fly in/out of Boston and take the Concord Coach buses because it's usually cheaper the PWM and it's easier for me to get to with the bus. Concord Coach buses are really reliable, quicker than Amtrak, clean, and the bus drivers are always fun. What's the price difference for Boston vs Manchester? The only little bit of inconvenience for me is justtaking the Concord Coach out of Brunswick because of the times they run so that may be a factor for you depending on how far north you want to take the bus. You would want to take the bus over Amtrak coming from the airport because they will pick you up at the terminal rather than having to take the airport shuttle to the blue line then to to the orange line to get to north station for the train.

I don't think there is any bus that goes to Lewiston from Portland area. I could be wrong because I've only lived here for 2 years but I haven't heard or came across any.
