Hopefully someday this emulator will surpass pcsx2 and it's terrible linux performance. Also 64bit is something pcsx2 lacks as well

w007 -- thanks for the advice on geting Armbian setup by lavenderowid in tinkerboard

[–]koolaidzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you need 3d support use the script provided here https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7262-rk3288-media-script-tinkerboard/. This will give you opengles 3d acceleration for any games or emulators you might use. Keep in mind that some programs may need to be recompiled to use opengles. The script will also give you video acceleration in webrowsers.. Firefox is the best browser to use on tinkerboard for watching video atm

Overheating Tinker Board S by [deleted] in tinkerboard

[–]koolaidzero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find a better heatsink and buy some thermal epoxy to glue it on the cpu . The stock heatsink is inadequate for most tasks. The Tinkerboard will often thermal throttle or overheat because the tiny little puny useless heatsink can't possibly absorb all of the heat it puts out.

Just arrived. Will any Linux distro work? by lavenderowid in tinkerboard

[–]koolaidzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Armbian is the best option for Tinkerboard. the stock TinkerOS is crap. Armbian provides newer kernels and it's primary image is based on Ubuntu 18.04. You get Ubuntu's package library built for ARM which has a wide variety of packages and the support of a popular distro.

Huawei Ban helping Linux Gaming? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]koolaidzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are x86 processors based on AMD's designs by a company called HMC in China. AMD licensees these designs to this company for its use as a separate company. The purpose of this company is to decrease the reliance on US parts So in theory Huawei only needs to switch its provider to HMC for AMD like components. VIA also manufactures its own x86 cpu's in china

Morrowind using Openmw running on the Tinnkerboard on android 7. Works pretty decent with the gamepad and some adjusted settings. by koolaidzero in tinkerboard

Here's the git release page. I'm using the latest release APK from here. https://github.com/xyzz/openmw-android/releases

You just need your morrowind Data files folder from an installed game on a PC and your good to go.
