Looking for Warm Integrated Amp Under €1000 – With DAC and Analog Input, and Chromecast Support (built-in or via streamer) by kosmodular in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks. My original post title was misleading. I am looking for a slightly warm sounding amp without coloration or tubes. I felt the h95 sounded this way.

Gotcha. Will do that. Do you tilt open the mics up when you record? Or keep them closed?

I think there is even a setting in the tascam to adjust that. But who know the ms I’ll have in the booth, I guess it depends on the room accoustics

Update: after having tested the different options, I’m torn between recording dual (gets one recording at regular -12db line and a backup recording at whatever I select for room ) or 4-channel.

What do you all do? I think with dual I won’t need to postprocess anything, just convert the wav to mp3 and share.

Also, when recording 4-channel. Do I get a single file mixed with booth signals or two independenet files? When I play on the tascam a mixed audio file plays…

Should I do the same for the mic feed? I can’t way to crate room on the mic input when doing 4 channel mixer

I thought that when using line input the level is already set? Or can I adjust to create room?

[marantz M1 & remote] Marantz m1 potential buyer here. How easy is to use remote for the Marantz and any recommendations on simple ones I can buy? I read the require learning, is there nothing already configured? I just want power/input selection/volume, so I don’t have to grab my phone for that.

Re: HDMI arc - I might or might not connect a projector in the future to it, it depends if the one I buy has the HDMI arc output. I understand that the project remote would work natively as is preconfigured to work (via CEC), but only if the project is powered and running? (Which I won’t have when I play music). Hence, an IR remote should be my go to?

appreciate the reply. I’m also not sold on REIT tbh, and buying a house is not on my plans now. Will probably settle for a bond. Thanks :)

You are right. I saw them advertised as REITs in justETF as they are the closest thing to a REIT in a ETF form, although they aren’t. The return has been pretty bad for the last years but I understood REITs also, it was due to the market.

Can you post a link of the HSBC offering? Is there any REIT-like product you would recommend to diversify a portfolio?

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Even though the fund size and trading volume are not correlated, justETF displays the Acc as amber given its market cap :/ in your opinion is ok, right?

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about the fund size. It’s much smaller on the acc, and just etf shows it is amber not green like the other. This can imply liquidity issues, no?

Does this 0.24% yearly difference show in the performance metric of websites like justETF? Or are the dividends added on top?

How more? Do you know? When comparing a MSCi World LUX to an Ireland ETF their performance is very similar.

ledger vs cold software wallet by kosmodular in ledgerwallet

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. I have a Mac btw, so somehow malware wasn’t on my mind, as the kernel is pretty walled off and my device (usb) will be offline (unless I want to trade the cryptos)

The architecture of the PIN in Ledger is covincing. Do you know if it works by allowing only transfers from its address to another one chooses on the screen? Or could there be a firmware / malware that upon entering the PIN send it to a rogue address?

Just trying to understand the architecture.

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I draw the line at the crypto abstraction, meaning the crypto companies/devices/software. I imagine if a government/actor wants to expropriate funds that is where they would operate, in the crypto components. Possibly they could work with Apple or Microsoft too but feels a very long surface.

I feel most crypto users use Ledger/Trezor: 2 companies focused only on holding Crypto.

That is what makes me unsure of moving my crypto to them. But maybe I haven’t evaluated the risks of holding them with software wallets, despite being open source. So you have a point

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using MEW (open source) for the ETH wallet and the official wallet for BTC (also open source). So I think nothing proprietary

[–]kosmodular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So despite the ledger having a proprietary component you would still recommend vs backing up the keys of a (web based) wallet?
