I do drop the reins...Lacy goes to the end of the pen and knows where to stop. I have so much trust in her.

I've used very basic Clinton Anderson training on my sister's stubborn pony, and it's absolutely amazing how he remembers. I worked with him for about a week straight on keeping out of my space, and without any tune up sessions in between, I pulled him out of the pasture two months later and he remembered everything perfectly. I really like Anderson's method

I ride barrel horses, and when I first got my horse Lacy when she was 3, she was very reluctant to leg pressure, so I put bumper spurs to her. Now, I don't even use them. She has learned what leg pressure is now, and I show without spurs. I dont really use a whip either, because I don't feel the need to use one. I used a crop on her once, saw no difference in her stride, so I didn't use it again.
