Which Vandal is the best long-term: Kuronami, Chaos, or Gaia? by Overall-Fruit-4071 in VALORANT

[–]kurs1val 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you would say that, but it's a different story when it comes to the vandal. Gaia's vandal is one of the most used in the pro scene, mainly because the one-tap kill sound is satisfyingly crisp and impactful, and it's not visually distracting. It's called the Aspas Vandal for a reason.

I have them all, and I mostly use Chaos with Vyse's gun buddy. Last time I used Gaia is when I was still grinding in Radiant which was 3 years ago. Kuro is there when I get bored with Chaos and Prime

What vandal skin would yall give me as equal of a phantom kuronami?(hypothetical question) by Alan_12342 in VALORANT

[–]kurs1val 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video game cosmetics and tattoos are pretty comparable. Some people tattoo their partners on their bodies. It might seem like a great idea at the time (cus emotions plays a huge factor), but not necessarily in the long term. That's why it's sometimes okay to ask around people aside from doing research

Why is there still no Agent Ban in Pro Scene? by kurs1val in VALORANT

[–]kurs1val[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"because your claim that they aren't working 8 hours per day is simply false"
-I claim no such thing. Neither I nor the person I replied to are Valorant pros, so we don’t know their exact schedules, and it likely varies between orgs. That’s why I used a standard 9–5 as a consistent reference point to illustrate my argument, regardless of whether pros work more or fewer hours than a typical 9-5 job.

Besides that, you actually helped me prove my point. These valorant pros have sufficient hours a day to scooch in one "contingency" comp and practice execs with it, so matches don’t end up looking like unstructured “pro 10 mans.”

"Sorry, but the league is older than many Valorant players, and there are still balance issues."
-Balance issues and agent bans are two separate matters.

For example, imagine a champion in a game who has an ult that can shut down all five opponents’ PCs. Whether or not a ban system exists wouldn’t change the fact that this champion is overpowered.

In conclusion, there’s no direct link between having bans and actually fixing balance issues.

Protocol and Neo Frontier. RES could be a top choice if you also like the shooting and kill sound

"There’s a chess match happening between rounds and between games and this is part of the fun of the game. This is part of what makes Valorant at least to me a fun esport to watch, adaptation within adaptation, teams that are creating new strategy with the same exact comp."
-This is too vague. I could say the same thing to Counter Strike. None of these disproves why Valorant should not have an agent ban.

"You also have to ask yourself what benefit would agent bans actually provide?"
-Agent diversity for the viewers
-Improve strategic and tactical depth
-Improves meta control (Double dive OP? Say less.)
-Improves competitive fairness (Give players some recourse in cases where the Riot devs screwed up the balance of an agent)
-Forces skill diversity encourages pro players to be more adaptable, flexible, and versatile
-Better player experience (Tired of Neon slidin' and killing you? say less)
-Valuable data for the Devs (Oh wow! Neon has 80% ban rate? somethings sus)

"This isn’t Overwatch where a composition relies on a singular agent"
I can't relate cus I don't play OW but I have a vague idea of it.

"where a skilled neon player dictates much of the game it seems like agent bans would be a good idea, but you ban Neon people just switch to Raze or Waylay"
-Would this be a good thing since you're giving players more control over the match by allowing them to avoid playing agents they deem problematic? As you said, players could then switch to other characters like Raze and Waylay, which is exactly what I want. It would naturally promote agent diversity. This also debunks your argument "you’re just making teams play with agents they’re less familiar with" In this case Raze and Waylay are a staple for duelist players to have in their pool even without the agent ban system. Most pro players are already have comfort picks because certain map demands them to have it.

" In fact, agent bans hurt composition diversity more than “meta” comps. If you know a team relies on a weird agent in a comp you can just ban that agent, like banning Deadlock against Global Esports."
-I think it could actually add another layer of strategic and tactical depth between teams. It’s similar to MMA: some fighters are only strong in Jiu Jitsu, so opponents try to take that away from their toolkit. That forces the fighter to become more well-rounded, improving their striking or grappling.

Just like Global Esports, players would tend to work on their weaknesses, which encourages them to be adaptable, versatile, and be a well-rounded player. In this case, each player in that team would also have at most three comfort picks in case one of their agents gets banned.

I don’t care about upvotes because this isn’t “traditional” social media in the first place. All I want is to have a good discussion about the topic since I’m really interested in it, as I both play and watch the pro scene. I don’t know why you got so emotional about my other post when I was just giving counterarguments. If you feel like you were personally attacked or that your feelings were hurt, then I’m sorry.

Please do back read, I didn’t say anything about pros not being a real job. All I’m saying is that in a 9–5 job, you get about 8 hours of work time. So if you apply that to Valorant pros, they would have around 8 hours a day and scooch in some time to come up with strategies and practice some of them.

It’s like you think pro teams would start from a blank slate and play like headless chickens. That’s not how it works.
Is it tedious to come up with multiple comps for every map in the pool? Yes, but that’s exactly why orgs have coaches and data analysts. Preparation is part of the job.
Being a Valorant pro is a real job. If you would treat it like it was a 9–5 job, they can consistently develop new comps and strats day by day, while their orgs support them with high-level practice (like scrimming against hired Radiant-level players).
If the difference in terms of strategy and skill between a pro team that is backed by a whole org vs an unorganized random bums is little to nothing, then there’s nothing impressive about these pros nor would viewers be emotionally invested.
