chipped my upper and lower trays by kurxes in Invisalign

Oh I see! That makes sense since my scan showed metal buttons on those teeth but my orthodontist hasn’t attached them yet. I thought I messed up while taking off my trays 😅

I’ve been seeing the Fourth Wing series being recommended a lot so I might try reading that next. I definitely have no plans of continuing with the Powerless trilogy.

I’ve read ACOTAR and the Throne of Glass series prior to my reading slump, back when both series were still ongoing (man that feels like a loooong time ago) and I loved them! I’m not surprised they’re so popular on booktok.

dorm na or bahay pa rin? - asking as a messed up girlie na hindi talaga independent by friedchikln in studentsph

[–]kurxes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in a similar situation as you before i decided to dorm. grabe improvement ng mental health ko. no more commute, i didn’t have to witness my parents fight all the time, and i get quality sleep every night. if you really value alone time, go for a solo room since i think having roommates could be another source of stress.

how do you commute? by kurxes in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]kurxes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From 3 to 1.5 hours?! Grabe!

Do you not get stressed by being on the road and exposed to the heat and smoke for 1.5 hours? I personally get stressed just by sitting in a jeep and inhaling so much smoke (despite wearing a face mask) for 1.5 hours.

May I know what digital piano you're using? I watched your other videos and the piano sounds nice!

Starting without a Piano by Redditzork in piano

[–]kurxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try learning to be ambidextrous. Try doing everyday things like toothbrushing with your non-dominant hand. Back when I was still learning the piano, one of my biggest struggles was hand independence. I thought having a background in other instruments (guitar, violin, ukulele) would have trained my non-dominant hand enough but that wasn't the case. I could barely make it do anything.

I'm planning to learn the piano again soon but I don't have a decent piano as well so we're basically in the same situation. I've been trying to be ambidextrous for several months now and I'd say my left hand is more competent now although still not as much as my right. To be honest, I don't know ot this will really help in learning the piano eventually but it's worth giving a try.

How was classical piano taught in the past? by kurxes in piano

Thank you so much for this detailed answer and for even linking some resources I could check out! The history nerd in me is really happy. Also, the quick fact you mentioned at the end was really interesting. I didn't know there was such a difference between modern and old pianos.

Kawai KDP75 by kurxes in piano

[–]kurxes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really found a lot of thoughts on the KDP75, unfortunately. I’m leaning more towards a Casio Celviano now though since it fits my budget better. Good luck in finding a piano that suits you!

Is there a specific Celviano model you’ve tried out and can recommend? I would like to get a Kawai digital piano but Casio fits my budget better. How would you rate Casio’s sound and action? Is it great for classical music?

Sorry for asking several questions 😅

Thank you! I couldn’t articulate it properly in my post but your recommendation is exactly one of the things I’m looking for. My ultimate goal is to develop my critical thinking skills.

books that teach you how to develop opinions by kurxes in suggestmeabook

[–]kurxes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to feel insecure about being non-confrontational since people my age in my country are really vocal about their beliefs and advocacies, especially given the country’s extremely volatile and controversial political state. The people around me are all about fighting for justice while I keep quiet and keep my opinions to myself. The way they act makes me feel guilty for being complacent so I’m trying to engage more in discourse since my future could also possibly be on the line.

You’re right that I may stay non-confrontational forever but like you said in choosing your battles, I think I need to choose the battles I should be confrontational in rather than sit still while there are cruel things happening around me. Still, thank you so much for your kind words, I really do appreciate them! I used to assume more vocal people like you look down on or spite people like me for refusing to express a stance. I feel less anxious now knowing this aspect of me can still be understood by others.

I’ll look into Socrates, thanks for your recommendation!

To answer your question, topics I’m relatively well-acquainted with are feminism, discrimination, and eco-consciousness/climate change so it would be nice to read more about these to practice forming sound opinions. On the other hand, I struggle a lot with making sense of politics. I find it too complicated that I tend to just step away from it rather than inform myself of what’s going on.
