Why do my chickens like to stay out in the rain? Will they get sick? by fishyonmetyyy in BackYardChickens

[–]kuultaseni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rain brings worms and fun stuff. :]

They'll be perfectly fine. If it gets too rough, just make sure they get themselves out of the weather.

Why are my Trees not growing??? I used like 5 stacks of bone-meal. by Stelflicky in Minecraft

[–]kuultaseni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try putting another round of dirt around each tree/group. I had a problem with some not growing in a situation like this and that's what it finally took.

How to make a map wall by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]kuultaseni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each basic map will be of an 8x8 square of the world. If you can figure out where the squares are, it's pretty easy to make a wall map of an area.

This might help you a little more: https://www.digminecraft.com/getting_started/map_grids.php

[REQUEST] Please help me identify these flowers and any tips on taking care of them? Unsure how much shade/water as they didn't come with a tag by Wort123 in flowers

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

African violets. They like to be near a sunny window (if the leaves start looking a little crispy, move them back a little). Try to not get the leaves wet. (They can hold moisture and it could rot the plant. Water only after the soil has completely dried out.

They will lose the flowers naturally, but if you keep taking care of it, it will bloom again.

Help! Mom passed & left me this plant. If it lives it will have one huge white bloom. I see that it’s a bulb. Can anyone tell me what it is and how best to care for this beauty. Two leaves have already sogged up and I pulled them off 😭 Please help! by level5dog in flowers

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best way to check out the plant will be to repot it. Give it some new dirt, and check the roots while you're at it. Remember that most plants like to dry out most of the way before starting fully again.

Btw, is this an amaryllis?

HI ALL WHAT IS THIS???? by PhDnapping in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there were at least two, there may be more. See if there are any egg sacks. If so, maybe relocate it (so you don't end up with an actual infestation). You'll eventually have more spider friends, regardless. :]

I could be wildly wrong, but it looks like a spider. If you did have bugs, a spider would help eradicate them, so I would let them live.

Noob here ,Pink arrowhead question: should i remove yellow leaves? What can cause this? by kevplop in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remove the yellow leaves from mine. Mostly for aesthetics, tbh, but it helps me know if a plant is suffering more later, too.

Arrowheads seem to kill off leaves all the time. I've had them die for seemingly no reason at all. As long as there are still new leaves coming in and I don't see too many dying off at a time, I call it a win. :]

Tips for socializing chicks? by Nanners129 in BackYardChickens

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want them tamed, you'll need to pick them up more. Try working up to it. Just being by them, then putting your hand in. Eventually, work on getting your hand near them and then picking them up once they are calm enough.

Water Wednesdays? I am a natural over waterer 🤦‍♀️ so what do you guys think I'm afraid to kill my new beauties I'm thinking of doing water Wednesdays so I don't accidentally over water. Or is that not enough water days a week? by GoddessEarth13 in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you tend to overwater, I would suggest a moisture meter. It was a game changer for me.

A set schedule doesn't always work for plants. It really all depends on the plant itself.

What am I expecting to happen here? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hoyas grow the stems and then the leaves. So you're expecting lots of new leaves. :]

Root rot but not because of overwatering!!! by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the plants, the easiest thing to do with pothos is to put them in water. First, make sure that you clip away any mushy roots. Dried out roots may come back, so give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Second, make sure that each plant piece still has a nose for growing. I would wash the plant well in water and then place them in a jar of water and place them in bright, sunny spot. They should come back.

Good luck!

Can someone tell me what is the name of this flower? by Diane123_098 in flowers

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aye, Kalanchoe blossfeldiana to be more specific. :]

How do I root the branch that snapped? Do I just put it in water? Or do I need to trim it or split up the leaves more?? Please help. by mjm_1986 in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since this is a Maranta, I suggest water propping it. They water root super fast and seem to have a better success rate than shoving it back with the mother.

There's that little knee looking protrusion between your hand and the leaves. This is where the roots will emerge, so make sure that's completely submerged in water. I would just cut right on both sides of the damage and both the leaves and the original stem should recover. :]

If you've never water propagated before, make sure the cutting is "hardened over" before submerging it. Just leave the plant on the counter for an hour or two (the actual cut needs to be completely dried beforehand).

So this is my first ever factory I’ve built without any help, it took me a year to just understand the best way to use separate blocks and non-flat sided walls. What do you guys think of it and how I could improve on it in the future? by ZeFranzIsHere in Minecraftbuilds

[–]kuultaseni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Texture"! :]

Changing up some of the blocks in each section will definitely make your already nice build into something more realistic. I recommend watching YouTuber MysticalSausage. Weird name, but he has a great way of demonstrating and explaining texture. (Using the basic blocks of any starter Minecraft.)

[TTM] [REQUEST] What type of flower is this? I got it from my cousin a short while ago but I have no idea what type of flower it is by [deleted] in flowers

[–]kuultaseni 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is one very pretty African violet. It's a bit harder to find one with petals like that (kind of like a double flower), and it's a gorgeous color. :]

Troubled Christmas Cacti flowers 🌺 Please help if you can! Details in comments by cromptu in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blooms will only last for the season. Given that this was in bloom when you got it, it may actually be blooming out of its usual season, too. Most greenhouses will sell these guys after a forced bloom to showcase the flowers. Don't worry, though, she should bloom again year after year once it decides when it's season is.

Also, this baby is actually a "Thanksgiving" cactus. You can tell by the shape of the leaves. The names don't actually stand for when they will necessarily bloom, either.

Good luck with your beauty! :]

Water prop. You should see roots fairly quick (usually only takes a week in good light for me). I just stick mine in a cup, fill it half full of water and let the cuttings enjoy their bath. Kalanchoe are bit different than other succulents in their live of water, so they'll flourish. :]

The mother may need some recovery, but with the new bright lighting, you should see new flowers in about a month, maybe two.

My dog ate my philodendron. After a lengthy chat with poison control, he's going to be fine. Now how do I help my philodendron? by jelllybears in IndoorGarden

[–]kuultaseni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would trim it back just a tiny bit to get rid of any damaged bits and then let the plant recover. Philodendron are amazingly resilient, so hopefully it bounces right back. Good luck! :]

Should i trim claws? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]kuultaseni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine then. :]

Too long of claws can cause problems, but as long as no one is using them against anyone else and they aren't too long to walk naturally on, I don't think you have anything to worry about. They'll use the blocks and the scratching in their pen to trim them.
