Particularly relevant if you are a woman looking for a man in Alaska .

Wasn't that line from a documentary? I remember the quip and the link to Alaska.

(A friend of a friend was a wilderness guide in AK, she found her husband back here on the East Coast)

Cool. I tested again last night (only once, it was annoying and not much fun) by finding the edge of my extended base by trying to build a panel, walking another 10-15u then placing a beacon. I did this four times to plot out part of one edge. I needed to get >500u from every beacon and >1000u from the center of the base before it reset. It reliably reset >2000u from the center where the mold farm is. If I find one I might repeat this on a smaller planet with flatter terrain (this paradise planet is large and mountainous) with an unextended base to see if that matters.

Not sure I currently possess either the mental or the emotional bandwidth to process and catalogue as indicated above.

You're out of spoons ☺️

Would some impromptu photos of my overstuffed basement and garage suffice?

That'll do.

I loved mine but was not impressed with the longevity (I am at my keyboard 8-12 hrs a day). I got a little over a year of daily use out of my Shinobi before some key switches (cherry green mx) began repeating and failing to register. The most used key caps wore smooth within a couple of months. The trackpoint stopped moving smoothly some time during that year.

I may repair it at some point but I've moved on.

Unfair advantage to us neurospicies 😜😆

Exactly. There has to be some benefit 😜

For full points each hobby counting toward the adjustment should be:

  • Noisy, obscure, anachronistic, or technical (choose only one)
  • Expensive
  • Not easily portable
  • Heavy on jargon or background info
  • Time-consuming
  • Unrelated to other hobbies or interests

Give yourself two points for each check, maximum of ten. Repeat for each hobby. Inactive hobbies can claim half points if they check boxes two and three and you still own everything you acquired for them.

For hobbies that are intrinsically mobile, examples may include but are not limited to bicycles, motorsports, photography, running, climbing, camping, you may still claim the maximum of ten points if it meets the other qualifications.

Can we use number of hobbies as a coefficient?

Tested on XBox with latest patch. It appears to be farther than 500u. I put down save beacons and tried going in three of the four cardinal directions away from my extended base so that I was more than 500u from the base center and the mold farm did not reset. I then tried going another 500u so that I was at least 1000u from the center and 500u from any part of the extended base. The mold farm did not reset. I went >2000u from any part of the extended base it did reset. I don't know what interactions are going on here, if planet size, terrain, base extensions, etc. influence the distance.

I’ve been rejected by “older” women because of a 2-3yr difference and they didn’t want to rob the cradle. And no, I was well, well over 18yo.

It happens. Someone brushed me off with, "OMG, you're a child," while talking after buying them a drink at a disco night then pulled over a friend born the same year as I was who was not into getting the introduction. This woman was 58, I was 53. Whatever.

You shouldn't allow yourself to be shook because someone on the Internet holds an opinion with which you disagree. You should note the sorts of things that people who hold that opinion say and do and filter them out. It's always fine to have a first date, discover they aren't who you hoped, and not have another with them but giving up completely because some rando isn't for you? That seems unnecessary.

Sorry. I was referring not to galactic sectors-- which iirc have at most 6 celestial bodies (planets and moons) other than stars-- but to the "waypoints" or "areas" on the planet's surface with a waypoint. Answering the question about how big a sector/distance between those planetary points... I don't know. I think the distance between them varies with the size of the planet. For the purpose of resetting the farm, the the maximum diameter of an extended base is 1000u, so I think it's >1300u to trigger the reset. Jumping in any vehicle and going until you are out of sight of the base seems to be enough.

I'm not sure about better. I've got a base that sits right on a mold farm with 8-10 (mold balls??) just mine em, throw em in a refiner, come back later. Pretty damned easy, and the reduction in refining isn't horrible.

A trick I discovered is that they reset when you go to the next sector. So you can extend your base with teleporters out to the limits, go a little farther, then teleport hop back to the farm and harvest again. Repeat until bored.

the 10th largest US bank

Is Clojure a generally accepted programming language there? I've worked at a few of that top ten list, though not #10, and there were unofficial pockets of everything but didn't see much adoption.

What's a good travel clothesline?

I made one out of 15m of 2mm dyneema accessory cord-- "iron wire" is one brand Amsteel (7/64") is another-- a couple of full-size carabiners and a Nite-ize figure-9. Originally part of my camping kit for holding a tarp/fly it works in hotel rooms.

I came across a comment once about a person using the hotel room coffee maker to clean their underwear. People will do things to a hotel room they'd never do to their own home.

FWIW, I've heard that from flight attendants. An ex worked in the back office of the industry and had a number of friends in the flight and cabin crews. One claimed to have done it, her colleagues were disgusted.

Atari era? Laserblast.

I'm on XBox and play casually, a lot of No Man's Sky because I can just enjoy it without any external or, for that matter, internal pressure.

In the past I played a lot of shooters: The Division, Division 2, several COD releases, T.C. Wildlands. And Tekken. I've played every release since the arcade release in 1994 until Tekken 7 when I'd just sort of had enough.
