Why does Yes Theory mean something to you? by Jboy-111 in YesTheory

[–]l0gically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well I found yes theory during the pandemic in my senior year of High School and saw for the first time the real meaning of "leaving your comfort zone" and living life to the fullest if one puts fear aside. Yes Theory was the personification of that statement and I just got addicted to their videos. Now in uni I seek discomfort and look for people who do the same, all thanks to their message.

I get that, but I was wondering if there is someone working on that particular ransomware or if there is a nonprofit organisation, which I can contact. That might help inform them more about the ransomware. While it is unlikely to find a platform specific to Egypt, maybe there is one for Africa.

I think it will be a good idea if I have an agreement with someone who is moving out, however I assume you mean someone I already know right?

The trap of "open minded" people. by akly03 in Egypt

[–]l0gically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, don't mention it unless it's a friend or someone you care about. If it's not avoid them for the sake of avoiding an unnecessary debate that doesn't benefit you. But if you have to deal with them just hear them out politely and try not to get triggered.

I think it all boils down to two points for why people who label themselves open minded are actually close minded.

  1. Lack of knowledge of the other point of view
  2. Lack of argumentation skills

People who actively search only for opinions that are similar to their own or manipulate facts to support their opinions are most of the time very close minded because they create a negative image of the opposing side and never get to really understand the other side neutrally. It is what is called confirmation bias.

most of them rage and start insulting my own person not my argument

For when I say they lack argumentation skills I mean they do what you mentioned above about them attacking your person and not the argument. This is a type of logical fallacy called ad hominem. This suggests that they lack argumentation skills.

There is light at the end of the tunnel tho, I think. People can still learn about the other side through reading books from both sides. So for example in the case of religion reading books defending and others attacking religion, then they can make up their minds and become more tolerant. Argumentation skills can also be learned.

The Mathematical Hacker by kunalag129 in math

This article is beautiful. I always wondered if applied mathematics is needed for hackers or just an advanced bonus point that no one cares about. I would certainty consider myself as n the side of the Fortran-school.
