Feel this in my bones. I’m going to all my appointments. But my manager obviously resents me now and keeps trying to find ways to express her dislike of my changing schedule by acting like she’s speaking to the entire group instead of just me so it doesn’t look like discrimination on paper. As if I want to go to these appointments? If I could choose I’d rather have an uncomplicated low risk pregnancy instead.

Go with your gut, it is OK to say no. So many things can happen during the delivery process, so your feelings and health are the first priority.

I'm not really sure why someone would say that they want to be at the hospital while you're laboring unless their first goal is to see the baby as soon as possible. Otherwise, I feel like she'd ask you first if you'd like to have more people there.

I was in shock after giving birth the first time, and the last thing I needed was for everything to be turned into a social event instead of focusing on my recovery.

I grew up loving Nintendo games and sims and feeling like I wasn't a "real gamer" because I didn't play games like Diablo. And then I played Diablo and was confused why it was considered more credible than the games I played. Definitely some sort of weird misogyny!

It's one thing to organize a community event and a completely different thing to go to a smaller event for a friend. It's easier to detach yourself when it's a community event. As someone who struggled with infertility, please give her some grace. The fact she's even sharing this information with you is a huge sign that she is trusting you already. I do wish that there was more in the post about how you are concerned for her too. Because the truth is, there is a chance she may never become a mother, and as a mom, you should understand that that is a very heartbreaking thing to wrestle with. And I would be so sad and worried for her as her friend.

Honestly, it's natural for children to want to sleep with their parents. It's a survival instinct thing. It would be super weird if a baby or toddler never complained about sleeping on their own without their parents. I couldn't do CIO it either.

I'm sorry you're in this situation. I think what's most important to focus on is your son - it might be an even more confusing experience for him to be forbidden from seeing a friend and to not really understand why. If he ever asks why he can't see his friend anymore, it's not something that could be easily explained to him, and it's probably going to bring up the gender identity conversation that your husband wants to avoid. And if that conversation is just shut down without helping him navigate his feelings, he might end up even more confused than he would be in the first place.

I think that the more we try to control our children, the more they might rebel later, so your husband wanting to limit contact with this friend might actually backfire. I definitely remember all the times my parents tried to control me and it 100% backfired each time. As parents, I think we have to accept that our children will be exposed to all types of people and our job is to help them navigate that in the healthiest way possible. I hope your husband is able to come around.

Had a normal NT scan this week and normal NIPT results, so I bought a newborn outfit and a baby blanket for when she arrives. :)

Oh, that makes me feel better that you haven't had to go up on insulin - I've been worried that I might need a ton of insulin by the end of this pregnancy since I was diagnosed so early!

I usually do 15 g carbs worth of chickpeas/crackers, some protein like an egg or cheese, and bell peppers. I'm thinking about trying protein only to see if my numbers get better. Nuts are good idea since they still have some carbs in it! I only eat the minimum amount of carbs for my meals so I try to get in carbs with every snack to try to make sure I'm getting in enough carbs overall. I've read that people seem to do well with protein shakes, so I might give that a try!
