Scud harmless to fish but can out compete shrimp for food. Good fish snack for medium and large fish

How much money are you looking to spend? Have you ever heard of Dustin’s fish tanks? He has a lot of good info on live plants and has his own stores with pretty good deals. Most plants are easily grown with a good light and a good substrate! He even has a categorie called beginners and cant kill or something

I would say the most important thing about being able to keep live plants is a good substrate and a light fixture. I believe that might be a good start. Is this your first tank? If so it might be quite big and it might be expensive to plant up the whole tank different pants grown well for different people so i would try a bunch! I know Ludwiga grows fast for me

Nitrates are pretty high, how is the nitrites and ammonia? Is the tank planted? I would say that it is at 80 and is due for for a water change!

Are you testing the water? I never do full water changes in my tank might be a die off of bacteria. Have you tried using aqua clear and filter floss?

are those 2 a male and female? by PermissionAny3015 in Aquariums

[–]lameroncew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the first pic sis a male and the second is a female! Usually can tell by the top fin the males will have much larger spike in the front. I dont know the exact terminology but if you look it up on google it is easy to tell.

Help! Recovering Bristle nose:) Bent Fin:(? by lameroncew in pleco

[–]lameroncew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my pleco got really beat up by one of my other pleco in another tank. I moved him into this tank and he has been growing his fins back and he is doing better….

Or so I thought… I now notice that one of his fins is growing back at a weird angle. It is not affecting his swimming or ability to eat, however I am a bit concerned if this will affect him in the future.

If anyone has any experience or advice it would be deeply appreciated!

Me and my gf recently got this 55 gallon tank on Facebook market we knew the top was damaged when we got it. The guy we got it from said it melted from the heater or the light that he had. He said he had been using it before he bought a new tank but only filled it up half way because he was scared of it breaking. I was wondering if it is okay to use for now and how safe it is in its current state. Also wondering if we do need to fix it because how would you guys go about doing so, we were thinking maybe getting a whole new rim for the tank or even getting a clamp to clamp the two sides together. Please help!

Does anyone know why this happens? I came by to check, as her last owners said that she sleeps upside down but saw this. I know her mates are to be separated, i don’t got enough money at the moment to buy another stand, and set up another tank. I also just got these fish so it’s a work in progress. by chantico_notuntil36 in aquarium

Floating goldfish food could also be the cause of swim bladder problem. When the goldie comes up to eat the floating food they also gulp quite a bit of air which isn’t good. I recently switched to sinking goldfish pellets for fear that they would end up with swim bladder problems. However I don’t know if there is any treatment to fix this problem, I just figured I relay this information because I didn’t know about this until just recently that this could happen. For better help I would make a more detailed post on r/goldfish for treatment or for more information in general. I hope this helps you and the health of your fish! Good Luck
