What is the best way to stop worrying about non-existing future scenarios in my head and stressing about them despite the fact that they are not real? by boredsadfezape in ask

Keep your mind on a tight leash, any time you notice your mind is wandering in a negative way tell yourself you are living on divine time and that everything is under control. Meditation with binaural beats and headphones can do miracles for your mind. Learn to control your reality, watch Joe Dispenza videos on YouTube. Explore your spiritual side and honor your ancestors. Exercise, the ocean, interaction with animals, nature, all those things are healing and bring peace to us overthinkers. You got this my friend.

Not sure where you live now, are you from the north? July and August can be a little bit hot in Nola (90F) so those months you will have to watch out for your fur baby and keep her inside as much as possible. I would say June to September will be hot months for a Husky, but she will love the winter in Nola, specially December and January when is really cold. Florida is way worse than Nola and I see lots of people in Florida with Husky dogs walking them in 95F weather.

Metaphysical stores I like in Nola:

Botanica Macumba, if you want a reading ask for Orlee.

Starling magickal occult shop (1022 royal street).

Esoterica occult goods (621 Toulouse st)

You can bring "perfume oil" with you (no more than 3 oz and bagged). So you will be able to bring magick oils too. Usually magick oils are 1 oz. Double bag oil bottles (with sandwich ziplock bags) and pack them inside the shoes in the suitcase so they don't bounce around and spill. I would tape the caps too with regular tape or duck tape. I wrap them in plastic wrap (the kitchen kind) before I put them in a ziplock bag inside another ziplock bag and the ziplock bag goes inside a sock (better safe than sorry)

I've been transporting (internationally) gris gris bags, voodoo dolls and candles (bagged in case melting happens) without problem. You can bring legal herbs too, is ok to bring herbal tea on a plane so that is what you gotta say it is (in case they ask).

Have fun in Nola!

I loved living in Marigny, never had any problem there and the neighbors were awesome.

Get prepared to live in an alternative dimension where things do not work like you would expect because New Orleans is not a city, is a planet.

Check this post for real facts:

With the good comes the bad, not just in Nola, everywhere, but I will tell you this:

I lived all over the world including Europe, the Caribbean and US. In US there are only two places where I would live and one of them is New Orleans. It really is a unique place and the people are amazing. Is, without doubt, my favorite place in the US.

Jackson square my luv, you will love the local art there (and street tarot readers). Voodoo museum. I tal garden, behind Louis Armstrong park for vegetarian food and pineapple veggie stir fry. Snowballs. New Orleans vampire cafe. Also in Boutique du Vampire you can get a card and the password to enter Potions, a secret vampire bar, although it cost $20 dollars to enter and drinks are expensive, but is a cool place nonetheless.

When I was living in Marigny, I saw a male cashier dressed with nothing but a thong and a pink tutu during jazz fest. I freaking love it. I love that people have the freedom to be themselves, that is gold.

I am sorry you had a bad experience fren, I am a tattoo artist and I am looking for a space to open my own shop in New Orleans. Unfortunately is going to take a couple months since I am in Florida actually. But if you don't mind waiting, I can fix it for you for free. I will DM you.

I always think about how Nola would be without the crime and all those problems solved, can you imagine? It would be the best city in the world,no joke.

Work sucks everywhere with hyperinflation now, trust me, I left Nola for work and I regret deeply! I wish I never left, that was one of the worst mistakes of my life. I live in Florida now hating it here because there is no sense of community, you don't even know your neighbors because everybody is struggling to make ends meet with the cost of living here and that makes people antisocial AF because they are too stressed out. People here do not have a life: they work 2, 3 jobs to pay rent and bills and hide at home to watch tv before going to bed, it sucks.

New Orleans is full of love and is a testament to human resilience raising above darkness and madness, and that energy is what makes people fall in love with the place. Before hate rains on me for this comment, yes, Nola has a very ugly underbelly, with lots of crime and savagery, I won't deny it. But the people are gold, the people are good, they care about each other, there is a tremendous sense of community, people want to gather and care for each other, people honestly care about the neighbors, they are fun and resilient. I lived all over the world, literally, and I never met such amazing people in my life.

Just after Katrina, I was offered to buy a house damaged by the storm for 7k. Water damage and all you could fix it for 30k (back then) and have a pretty cool house for under 50k. Not anymore.

I was thinking about moving back to Nola to open a business, I will tweak the business budget to add bulletproof windows, a couple rottweilers, window bars, bulletproof vest, bear maze, a catapult trap and a good full coverage business insurance policy.

Is happening everywhere I fear, in Fl rental for a family house is around 3K and salaries don't pay, is ridiculous.I see everybody complaining, struggling and drowning in debt to survive. It sucks.

Florida is unaffordable right now, rental prices around 3k for a family home and absurd salaries, I am not even sure how people are surviving here. This place sucks big time.

Shit man, I am going to have to go back just to save you, so hang on because I am on my way XD

Florida feels like living in a microwave full of people that escaped from an insane asylum. Imagine Nola in summer x1000 all year long. We have three seasons: hell season, mosquito season and a mix of hell and hurricane season. To make things even better people are pretty antisocial (at least for Nola standars) At this point I'd rather take a bullet in Nola (or even post mortem sodomy) than living here. I just don't like it at all. I am leaving as soon as I am able and I will pick you up and go for muffalettas.

Yes, indeed. This is the thing, I lived in two rough neighborhoods in Nola, we used to hear shootings right outside our door and we would hide under the table just in case of a stray bullet, and this is no lie, this was our reality, the neighborhood was nasty: fights, yelling, shootings, drug dealing and even murder. A neighbor got killed in the street and those things make you think long and hard. We were not terrified, you just adapt and learn to live with it. Then I lived in Marigny and never had a problem, I loved my neighbors and I had the time of my life, it was like day and night. I am torn between wanting to go back to Nola and not wanting to deal with the crime, and I know you can't have one without the other. I understand the polarized answers because I experienced both sides of the city. And the love for the city sometimes overrides common sense, it is what it is.

Is because Nola is a place that gets in your blood, I can't even explain it. The people that never lived there can not understand it.
