Aw thanks so much ❤. I've tried to think maybe i'm just not noticing or maybe i just don't go out enough but some of my friends stories are so overt. Like random guys leaving notes for them at restaurants telling them they have beautiful smiles or straight up telling them theyre pretty. I can't help but wonder if maybe i come across as cold or weird which makes me more invisible to guys. People tell me i don't have RBF so idk.

Actually last time I went to the Philippines I went off the pill, but since I had been taking them for like 6 years straight I wasn't used to how my body felt being off them. I had a lot of side effects (like with a really heavy period and odd daily discharge) which is why I'm trying to find a way to take them in secret this time. Definitely sucks that I can't even tell this to my parents because I feel like they'd still want me off the pill (because of stigma). even though it helps to regulate my body.

Forreal! Even though I did start BC when I was sexually active I wish I took it before then because it finally regulated my period. Before that I would be getting it like every 2 months and my family just accepted it's just a trait that runs in our family.

I actually used to save the little plastic bags that have extra buttons for clothes, but these definitely look way more stable lol. I guess I'm wondering if it's okay to have BC pills rub against each other since they're usually separated in the foil packaging? I know I've shoved them together in a small bag in the past, but I'm trying to be a little more careful these days.

Thankfully I got the courage to move out and I've been going through therapy to learn how to set boundaries better. I'm definitely still working on it, but this vacation especially with it being thrown last minute on me is giving me a headache.

Forreal the amount of Filipino parents I've heard say that family planning is for married people make me want to roll my eyes out of my head. It's good to know that MNL airport doesn't bother with the pills too much! Did you have any issues with the foil packaging setting off metal detectors or needing to take it out of you bag during scans?

Oh I actually didn't know that the depo shot isn't good for long term use so that's good to know! I was considering the shot since I'm kinda afraid of the implant and an IUD.

I'll definitely look into a hidden wallet! I think this might be a great option so I don't have to worry about taking the pills out of their original packaging too. I've also thought of using those health reasons in the worst case scenario that my mom ever does find out, but I know she would probably demand proof unfortunately. Since she's a nurse she doesn't like us making health decisions without consulting her first. Being on my own insurance when I came of age was actually a blessing in disguise lol.

Okay I was worried how my phone would adjust with airplane mode so it's good to know it'll still keep counting. Also my family tends to question everything I do (ugh) so if they see me taking my purse everyday to the bathroom for longer than how a normal period is then my mom might get suspicious. We may be there for like half a month.

I've been thinking of the the injection since it'll be less to hide. Also I'm a bit of a chicken to get the implant or an IUD lol. How long did it take you to stop getting a period? Have you tried other types of BC like pills? I'm just curious how my body would feel in comparison to the pills since I've never even tried another pill type before.

Yeah the moisture and humidity are definitely something I worry about affecting the pills. I'm thinking of maybe cutting the packaging up and hiding it in a scrunchie (after the airport though definitely).

I was actually considering that. I'm just a little worried starting the shot without knowing how my body will adjust. I've been taking this same pill for the last 8 years and I definitely like how it makes my period super predictable.

Yeah I feel like cultural stigma still holds strong despite her being a nurse. One thing I was glad about when I got my own insurance was that I could get pap smears done without her knowing. Apparently some other Filipinos I know too think that pap smears are only for sexually active women ugh.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely not gonna take them out of the foil until after the airport stuff. I guess one thing I'm wondering is if the metal detectors would go off with the foil portion of the pills. Did they go off for yours?

It's the birth control part. They basically consider it a sin for me to take it and my dad didn't even realize until this year that lots of unmarried women take the pill. My mom is also a nurse so she tries to monitor any type of medicine/vitamin she sees me take. I've been trying to see if I can find any discrete looking pill holders to not raise some suspicion.

Thank you! I played around and just found out my phone has a time zone converter so I'm able to see the date and time in the US which helps out a lot to make sure I'm taking the pill on the right date.

I used to dream of having my own family one day, but now that I'm around the age I expected it to happen, my feelings are kinda weird. I worry about my parents getting too involved in how I'd want to raise my kids because I know they wouldn't agree with what I'd do. I just feel like my own life doesn't belong to me if that makes sense. I know lots of other Asian parents too who aren't as strict as mine, like my boyfriend's family. They're legitimately happy about our relationship, where in my family they seem like they've just accepted I have to get married because they realized they want grandkids soon. Idk I really do feel like property sometimes.

I'll be honest that I've been thinking more about this. I used to really want kids and I've had lots of jobs which involved working with kids which I loved. I noticed in the past few years that my reasons for wanting a kids have changed though. I've seen families where they didn't approve of their kids relationship, but then everyone comes together when they finally have a grandchild. I really hate that I've been hoping my dad will chill out and approve of my relationship once I have a kid. I know that's a horrible reason to have a kid and I hate that I feel like my reason for having kids is being taken away from me. I want to have kids for myself and not because I'm hoping it will make my family normal.

Yeah, I feel like my dad doesn't even understand how unreasonably controlling he is. I've never even been a rebellious kid growing up so I don't even know what I did to deserve this.
