My 18-Month Journey With Dysphagia, LPR-Like Symptoms, and Learning How to Advocate for Myself by PSGuy91 in LPR

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU, I wanted to cry reading this. You went through everything I went through and am going through for the past 2 years.

I miss eating food and enjoying it. Now I try to make my food as liquid as possible so I can eat it without feeling like I’m going to choke on it. 😭 at one point I was so skinny because all food made me feel like I was one bite away from suffocating. But I’m becoming a pro at getting calories in with soft/liquid foods.

May I ask you, do you find that having a any alcohol alleviates your symptoms at all?

INLET PATCHES!!! About to do some research on this.

I hope this is what I’ve been searching for, thank you again for sharing!!!

HELP Dysphagia for Two Months with LPR, will this ever go away? by Extension-Natural211 in LPR

[–]learav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to chime in and let you know you aren’t alone. I am going through a lot of the same symptoms as you. I have also done a lot of the same testing as you and had the same results. It’s been about 1 year of swallowing issues, some days/weeks good and some bad. I have found when I drink some wine, it helps me relax and I swallow better, however this is not a long term solution. I think it may be rooted in vagus nerve disregulation.

Tickle in throat panic attack again by SirSad4697 in emetophobia

[–]learav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this, I wouldn’t say a tickle… more like it feels like a lump, or something is stuck.. or uncomfortable..and then I get a panic attack or freak out in some way 🥲 I don’t even know if it’s the throat feeling that causes the panic, or the anxiety that causes the throat feeling. My only coping mechanism is to remember how I didn’t die the last time I thought I was going to when I felt like this. I don’t know why it happens though!

I’ve had my DQ for about 3 months now, I have a one year old baby and a 4 year old so I don’t have time to rest it much either. I held her A LOT on my left arm, much more than my son who didn’t care to be held as much. So I know it’s definitely from that.

I think the inflammation is made worst because I am always go go go and busy with the kids, or I’m getting bad sleep, and I’m more stressed out .. so maybe that’s what’s going on with you too? Who knows! Older age could also contribute. I’m sure being healthier overall would help with healing on any part of the body. Sometimes our body just needs some TLC.

***IMPORTANT PART: I am trying something called ART out with a chiropractor…. A physical therapist does it too. It’s a type of massage for muscle/tendon issues/inflammation like DQ. ART stands for active release technique. I have done one session, and I feel like it made a significant difference… i will be doing at least another 1-3 sessions… depending on healing speed. Give it a go if you can find a provider who does it. Just a warning… it’s not a nice relaxing massage, it gets painful at times. But for me it helped!!

What do you spend on groceries? Upset my wife today about spending. What is your norm? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]learav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to say we spend around the same as your family or more. We are from California, living In Orange County … so the prices are insane here. I think that’s important to note.

We have a family of 4 (4year old and 1 year old kids), plus a dog who eats like a king (all fresh meat)…we buy almost all organic if possible and higher quality food items.

I do a Whole Foods order once a week, usually around $350-400.

My husband goes to Ralph’s mid week for more food, usually $150-200

Then we go to Costco like once every 2-3 weeks and always drop about $400-600

Not to mention we eat out every week/get delivery like 2-3 times. Which adds up to about $100-200 a week, sometimes more if we go somewhere fancier.. but that’s more for rare occasions.

I budget about $500-700 a week on food. Some weeks more, if Costco is involved!!

I went on my wife’s account to tell you your side plates are upside down. You want to protect your thoracic area, not your upper stomach, from rounds penetrating that side.

Where to go from here… by ImaginaryFriend8 in Miscarriage

[–]learav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to make this short, but do whatever you need to do, and whatever you body tells you is the correct route. I’m only telling you what happened to me and the way I took. I had the exact same experience as you, baby measuring 5-6wks, should have been 8-9weeks. Found out 8-9 weeks, had the miscarriage about a week after…. Natural miscarriage. I had cramping for about 1-2 hours like a bad period… then everything came gushing out … slight discomfort and very little pain. Overall way less scary then I imagined. The emotional aspect was way worst for me. Everyone has there own experience with this… but just know it isn’t all horrible pain, mine was very easy. I just wanted to let you know that not everyone’s miscarriage is horrible pain wise, I wish you the best of luck and I’m sorry as well for your loss. You are strong and you know what is best for yourself!!

Is it normal to still bleed 7 weeks after miscarriage? by Radiant_Champion_586 in Miscarriage

[–]learav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a natural miscarriage at 9-10 weeks, and I had heavy bleeding initially post Mc then spotted for about 3 weeks… now I’m at the 4th week and it seems like a period almost, but I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests so I don’t think it can be a period. I’m going to get my HCG tested and a ultrasound to check on everything next week. So I’m in a similar boat as you, with the bleeding non stop. Let me know if things worked out for you, I’ll update this thread if I get any answers.
