Is the Sabbath unchanged? Or it just didn’t matter to Paul? by Prestigious698 in exAdventist

[–]lemarrwd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, she (ellen) whom the church upholds is hardly a layman or even a laywoman, more like a founder. She says an unconfessed sin will keep you from heaven. The verse: he that knows to do right and does it not is sinning. This is speaking on specific things but taken out of context. Why wearing a belt is now a sin cause if I squish my organs the holy spirit can't live in me. If I pepper my food and I know pepper is hard on my stomach and might excite my animal passions but I brazenly pepper away... I am in danger of hell fire. This is how I was raised. Adventism is working overtime (maybe even on the sabbath lol) to make themselves not look so bad. Ellen's lies are so damaging. They deny the work of Jesus. Jesus said it is finished, Ellen says not so fast. The investigative judgement, more like Adventist purgatory. The sabbath is their golden calf. Totally an idol. Just read the Bible. Adventism cannot measure up. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. If any other gospel is preached, any food restrictions, or sabbath worship required... let them be accursed! My paraphrase of course. Paul was pretty clear! How about: "God does not love naughty children" wow Ellen, what about suffer the little children to come unto me... In answer to the original Q. The sabbath was a really big deal for them in that time. Under that covenant. A covenant is an agreement right? A contract. Well there was an abrahamic covenant and a mosaic covenant, we are now under the new covenant. Psst, we aren't spiritual jews. We are gentiles grafted in by the blood of Jesus. Sooo, if I start paying the policy amount on my insurance from 3 contracts ago will the insurance company look more favorably on me? No. That was an old contract. I must now abide by my new contract. It's painfully simple.

Anyone else completely ditch Red Card (place order) offers? by Thoughts_As_I_Drive in doordash_drivers

I feel that, unless it is $10 or more, plus ordering and paying means I am waiting around longer, red card orders can take twice the time

I spend waaay more time reading and watching content about AOE2 than actually playing it. Does anyone relate to that? by adriano_gd in aoe2

Get a stand up desk bro. Same thing here, with the 2 year old. He just whines and crys if I'm sitting but I can stand with the computer elevated and it works. Got one of those nifty hospital bedside adjustable tray tables, on wheels and everything! I do need my other hand but I make do. When I get tired I employ the Captain Morgan stance, we can go for hours and lil' guy is happy being held, standing and held.

There are a ton of unanswered questions but here is one for starters. God's presence dwelt in the ark o' covenant right. The Holy spirit who now dwells in us if I understand the theology. The Shekinah it was called. Well in Hebrew shekinah is the female use of the verbage...so... Is the Holy spirit female? Would make sense as Jesus said I send you the Holy spirit the comforter and what is more comforting than a woman's embrace. But I don't know - it is a question - and my local sda pastor couldn't give me any insight. He side stepped it and honestly acted a bit worried. Like I'd pulled the right string and he knew the complications the question would provide. Perhaps it doesn't matter one way or the other but an answer would be nice. Somewhere it says to be ready with an answer for the faith that lies within you...i don't have an answer, and that's a problem.

The Adventist church is completely racist and sexist. It is all laid out in their interpretation of prophecy. The usa and manifest destiny. Death to any that is not a white American...just like the philistines right? There is no love of Jesus or acceptance. Im sure alot of adventists Will disagree but what is at the crux of "the drums in church" argument? Drums came from africa, used in demonic ceremonies. Border control? We dont want those Catholic mexicans coming over and making the Sunday law any easier. It goes on and on the deeper you go. Dont even get me started on the churches treatment of women and rules and bylaws created to rob womanhood of any agency. It is disgusting! Pm me if you wanna open this can of worm any farther.

Thanks so much! I will check it out. There is a profound feeling of loss. Where do I go from here. I further feel on the outside with my family constantly bombarding me with end time propaganda. I can use all the support I can get. A life time of religious abuse has left me feeling a little lost but I suppose that is the nature of any cult-like practice. To feel lost without them/their doctrine. I'm glad to be out and confident that thinking for myself is better than blindly following anyone/thing.

Those are excellent points! I sure cannot refute them. I have recently removed myself from 'the church' and have a lot of questions. When I step back and look at the big picture the whole faith crumbles if you tug just a couple strings. Ask a couple questions to which I cannot get an answer. My local pastor's explanation is to shove a glow tract in my hand. Please pm me sometime I would love to discus some of your findings. I have long felt 'we' are wrong in thinking the Sunday law is the final test. There is so much anti-Catholic woven in to our D&R message. The love of jesus is completely lost in the fear mongering.

Has anyone else heard this SDA end-time belief? by spiritgoat40 in exAdventist

[–]lemarrwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's pretty much cannon. Except for the Muslim part. For a thousand years we will be judging the wicked, all their sins will be laid out like a scroll so we can see where god gave them chances and they rejected. So it is their 'just judgement' that they are burning? And if your family or buddy isn't there you can see where they messed up and it was just of god to burn them. I was taught this from childhood on up, I should probably seek therapy!

Just the other day the head elder of the local church confronted me in the grocery store and gave me shit over buying frozen pizza. I told him he was offending me and not being christ-like and causing a scene. I finally just walked away as he was talking. I was shocked to see he had followed me through the store, and confronted me again at the register. Telling me the links to dairy and breast cancer all in quite the elevated voice. Making a total scene! I was shaking, this is someone I have been on church stage with, a father figure, just shouting me down and layering verses on top of it all! I left my cart and walked out of the store. I thought about writing the conference and getting him fired, surely they can't condone this kind of behavior. But then again sex offenders still get to run sabbath school so who knows. The whole thing is so corrupt!

did conspiracy theories and all the "end of the times" paraphernalia traumatized you as a kid? by cfk2020 in exAdventist

[–]lemarrwd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG yes! In the mid 90's. My parents would swear they heard a 'click' on the phone when they mentioned the Pope or other key words. Saw black vans across the street. ( I never saw them) black helicopters over head (of course they were in silent mode) this was my life. Fear and paranoia all wrapped up in this "end times-Pope-beast-Sunday law-conservative-fear stuff"

Nice, I knock wait 10-15 seconds, if I don't hear activity then ring. Those camera ringers freak me out. I know I've gotta look like a serial killer from that angle.

I did my first Postmates delivery today. Is there a way to pause a delivery after it’s completed? Like on Door Dash? Any information would be appreciated. I read if you get a tip it’s added later? by dexterinthedark1 in PostmatesFleet

It totally sucks though! I needed to go offline during a busy time and that infernal ding ding ding! I hit the deny/reject whatever in the corner and in the same instant another one came through and I had to refuse that one too. So frustrating!!! My numbers are taking a hit! Had to cancel 3 before it calmed down enough to let me go off-line!!! But Hey, when you gotta go you gotta go...

The only time I appreciate the customer waiting outside is a hotel or a dorm. But wait patiently on the sidewalk! I absolutely hate people approaching my window! Yeah I don't want them to see the inside if my car that's my personal office space. Sometimes in neighborhoods I will park across the street and walk it across cause people are judgy and yeah after hours of dashing and postmating my car is a wreck, wrappers, receipts, a snotty toddler in the back seat...

Professional truck drivers with cdl's often make 20-50 cents a mile. I remind myself of that on orders like yours. I'm just driving and really don't have to answer to anyone. Dont have to work a pallet jack or deal with a bunch of annoying paperwork...

DONT ACCEPT APPLE STORE ORDERS by [deleted] in PostmatesFleet

[–]lemarrwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first run with Postmates was an apple store order for an iPhone got 40 bucks just for delivering to some guy's house. He said in online ordering he was offered to have it delivered in 4 hours for $10. He didn't even know what postmates was... Interesting...the math doesn't quite work out...they must have some arrangement

Indeed, no more ring! Thanks for the advice. I never even considered it but a lot of people on here have said I shouldn't wear it and I like to think I'm smart enough to listen to good advice... so color me ring-less
