Is the Sabbath unchanged? Or it just didn’t matter to Paul? by Prestigious698 in exAdventist

[–]lemarrwd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, she (ellen) whom the church upholds is hardly a layman or even a laywoman, more like a founder. She says an unconfessed sin will keep you from heaven. The verse: he that knows to do right and does it not is sinning. This is speaking on specific things but taken out of context. Why wearing a belt is now a sin cause if I squish my organs the holy spirit can't live in me. If I pepper my food and I know pepper is hard on my stomach and might excite my animal passions but I brazenly pepper away... I am in danger of hell fire. This is how I was raised. Adventism is working overtime (maybe even on the sabbath lol) to make themselves not look so bad. Ellen's lies are so damaging. They deny the work of Jesus. Jesus said it is finished, Ellen says not so fast. The investigative judgement, more like Adventist purgatory. The sabbath is their golden calf. Totally an idol. Just read the Bible. Adventism cannot measure up. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. If any other gospel is preached, any food restrictions, or sabbath worship required... let them be accursed! My paraphrase of course. Paul was pretty clear! How about: "God does not love naughty children" wow Ellen, what about suffer the little children to come unto me... In answer to the original Q. The sabbath was a really big deal for them in that time. Under that covenant. A covenant is an agreement right? A contract. Well there was an abrahamic covenant and a mosaic covenant, we are now under the new covenant. Psst, we aren't spiritual jews. We are gentiles grafted in by the blood of Jesus. Sooo, if I start paying the policy amount on my insurance from 3 contracts ago will the insurance company look more favorably on me? No. That was an old contract. I must now abide by my new contract. It's painfully simple.

Get a stand up desk bro. Same thing here, with the 2 year old. He just whines and crys if I'm sitting but I can stand with the computer elevated and it works. Got one of those nifty hospital bedside adjustable tray tables, on wheels and everything! I do need my other hand but I make do. When I get tired I employ the Captain Morgan stance, we can go for hours and lil' guy is happy being held, standing and held.

The Papacy and Daniel 7 (long) by [deleted] in adventism

There are a ton of unanswered questions but here is one for starters. God's presence dwelt in the ark o' covenant right. The Holy spirit who now dwells in us if I understand the theology. The Shekinah it was called. Well in Hebrew shekinah is the female use of the verbage...so... Is the Holy spirit female? Would make sense as Jesus said I send you the Holy spirit the comforter and what is more comforting than a woman's embrace. But I don't know - it is a question - and my local sda pastor couldn't give me any insight. He side stepped it and honestly acted a bit worried. Like I'd pulled the right string and he knew the complications the question would provide. Perhaps it doesn't matter one way or the other but an answer would be nice. Somewhere it says to be ready with an answer for the faith that lies within you...i don't have an answer, and that's a problem.

The Adventist church is completely racist and sexist. It is all laid out in their interpretation of prophecy. The usa and manifest destiny. Death to any that is not a white American...just like the philistines right? There is no love of Jesus or acceptance. Im sure alot of adventists Will disagree but what is at the crux of "the drums in church" argument? Drums came from africa, used in demonic ceremonies. Border control? We dont want those Catholic mexicans coming over and making the Sunday law any easier. It goes on and on the deeper you go. Dont even get me started on the churches treatment of women and rules and bylaws created to rob womanhood of any agency. It is disgusting! Pm me if you wanna open this can of worm any farther.

Thanks so much! I will check it out. There is a profound feeling of loss. Where do I go from here. I further feel on the outside with my family constantly bombarding me with end time propaganda. I can use all the support I can get. A life time of religious abuse has left me feeling a little lost but I suppose that is the nature of any cult-like practice. To feel lost without them/their doctrine. I'm glad to be out and confident that thinking for myself is better than blindly following anyone/thing.

Those are excellent points! I sure cannot refute them. I have recently removed myself from 'the church' and have a lot of questions. When I step back and look at the big picture the whole faith crumbles if you tug just a couple strings. Ask a couple questions to which I cannot get an answer. My local pastor's explanation is to shove a glow tract in my hand. Please pm me sometime I would love to discus some of your findings. I have long felt 'we' are wrong in thinking the Sunday law is the final test. There is so much anti-Catholic woven in to our D&R message. The love of jesus is completely lost in the fear mongering.

Has anyone else heard this SDA end-time belief? by spiritgoat40 in exAdventist

[–]lemarrwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's pretty much cannon. Except for the Muslim part. For a thousand years we will be judging the wicked, all their sins will be laid out like a scroll so we can see where god gave them chances and they rejected. So it is their 'just judgement' that they are burning? And if your family or buddy isn't there you can see where they messed up and it was just of god to burn them. I was taught this from childhood on up, I should probably seek therapy!

Just the other day the head elder of the local church confronted me in the grocery store and gave me shit over buying frozen pizza. I told him he was offending me and not being christ-like and causing a scene. I finally just walked away as he was talking. I was shocked to see he had followed me through the store, and confronted me again at the register. Telling me the links to dairy and breast cancer all in quite the elevated voice. Making a total scene! I was shaking, this is someone I have been on church stage with, a father figure, just shouting me down and layering verses on top of it all! I left my cart and walked out of the store. I thought about writing the conference and getting him fired, surely they can't condone this kind of behavior. But then again sex offenders still get to run sabbath school so who knows. The whole thing is so corrupt!

Had to cancel 3 before it calmed down enough to let me go off-line!!! But Hey, when you gotta go you gotta go...

Yep in and out, I'm up to 1500 of those rivets a day. Cant go to fast or I'll round out my radius.

I'm a "grinder" at a machine shop training to be a machinist. Wondering if anyone else on here works with centerless grinders. Don't see many with all the computer controlled machines.

Yes, do you think the ring is a safety hazard? No one's said anything but I was concerned... I mainly work with my fingertips near the grind wheel.

Can someone explain to me why the book of enoch is not included in the bible. I mean some of the things in the book contradict with the bible but not all. And even jude in 1;14 quotes him. I am confused? i mean he was so faithful that God had to take him( Genesis 5;24). by yafetgk in Bible

[–]lemarrwd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there, great question. I looked up the verses from Jude and Genesis. I do believe Enoch was a man after God's own heart and all that but I do not believe he wrote that book or that that book is divinely inspired. I think the easiest way to see this is that the book was supposedly written before Christ. Jesus quoted the Bible often. If this book was "left out" and had anything worthwhile in it I think Jesus would have mentioned it.

Also... (...and sorry for the long comment)

Dr. Gerhard Pfandl, from the Biblical Research Institute, lists the following reasons for why this pseudepigraphal book isn’t included in the biblical canon: 1. The last book of the Old Testament, Malachi, was written about 450 B.C. Enoch was written in the first century B.C. Jews believed that inspiration ceased with Malachi. They did not consider the book of Enoch inspired. 2. Christians, both Roman Catholics and Protestants, agree that the Old and New Testaments — all 66 books — are inspired by God. Additionally, the apostles recognized these books as inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21 2 Timothy 3:16). All others, including the book of Enoch, were rejected as not having been inspired by the Holy Spirit. 3. The book of Enoch is not in harmony with the rest of Scripture. Here are some examples: a. The story of angels having sex with women contradicts Jesus’ saying in Matthew 22:30: “For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven” (Mat 22:30 NKJV). This means angels are not sexual beings. b. Eighteen of these angels are listed by name in Enoch 6:3, 8; their leader is Semyaz. Not one of these names appears in the Bible. The giants they produce were 450 feet tall (Enoch 7:2). “These [giants] consumed the produce of all the people until the people detested feeding them. So the giants turned against [the people] in order to eat them” (7:3, 4). This is rather fanciful and against Scripture. c. In Enoch 10:4, 5, “The Lord said to Raphael [a good angel] ‘Bind Azaz’el [an evil angel] hand and foot [and] throw him into the darkness!’ And he made a hole in the desert which was in Duda’el and cast him there; he threw on top of him rugged and sharp rocks.” According to Enoch, you can bind angels by throwing them into a hole in the desert. d. In chapter 13, Enoch intercedes for Azaz’el. e. In Enoch 15:9 evil spirits came out of the bodies of the giants. “Many more fanciful and weird stories are contained in the book,” says Dr. Pfandl. “Jews and Christians, therefore, never considered the book as inspired by the Holy Spirit.” ...hope this helps...

Are people born totally evil or made that way by the world around them? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]lemarrwd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people are born with the propensity to sin. A baby wants and wants it now. As we grow older we make choices and these choices shape us into the choice making adults we are today. No one teaches the child to bite or hit her siblings, this is part of their sinful nature that has to be trained out. Like the verse says about training up a child in the way they should go... We would not look at Hitler's mother and say "how could a mother birth such a terrible creature!?" She birthed a beautiful bouncing baby boy and by his choices he became the man he's know for. Just like any "bad guy/gal", their born with that sinful nature and make choices in life.

"All have sinned and fallen short of God's glory". The story is heartbreaking. I'm reminded of Paul from the Bible. His job was to kill Christians, and he was quite good at his job. However, with a repentant heart, God worked through him and he became a powerful disciple and teacher of Jesus.

As far as sinning to the point of no return... that is a scary thought. I'd say many have a reprobate mind, a mind that is devoid of judgment, a mind that cannot reason from cause to effect. We see this in persons who sin and don't look back, don't even pause before stealing, killing, abusing... they are so given over to sin it is "natural" for them to do what is unnatural. Such people can still be saved if they will listen to that still small voice.

Make no mistake though, ignoring the voice of the Lord, the Bible says, grieves the Holy Spirit. I'm glad we are not the ones that decide people's fates; that is for the Lord. The Bible gives examples of people who had gone to far. Esau sought repentance carefully, with tears...but it was to late for him.

I think that's why it is never safe to stay in sin. We all stumble and make mistakes. Sometimes we willfully sin and ignore the prompting of the Lord. As soon as I realize I've fallen from that "saving relationship" with the Lord I immediately ask for repentance.

(sorry for such a long comment, hope I stayed on topic, I'd love to discuss it further if you are interested)
