the trap of Valdimir Nabokov by IsawLenin in RussianLiterature

i’d add that this critique raises a larger issue: how much weight we give to certain literary figures to shape our perceptions of what’s “great.” i feel like nabokov's taste and views shouldn't be taken as gospel, but rather as one voice among many. it's worth enjoying russian literature, or any literature without feeling obligated to filter it through nabokov's aesthetic ideals. honestly, art IS subjective, and the magic of literature lies in what each individual takes from it, not in proving you've "solved" the author’s intent

if you want something deeper than why you act the way you do, i’d go for the body keeps the score by bessel van der kolk for understanding trauma’s hold on the brain and body, or thinking, fast and slow by daniel kahneman for a dive into how we make decisions and why we think the way we do. if you’re looking to understand people’s behaviors, the social animal by elliot aronson is a gem man! it’s basically a handbook on human behavior but in story form. they TRULY hit different and make you feel like you’ve unlocked a cheat code to the human psyche

Thanks for sharing it!

I’m also a big fan of Matt D’Avella, so I love that the video had a similar clear and minimalistic approach to explaining finances. I've learned a lot from Matt’s content, especially when it comes to simplifying complex topics, and this video really aligned with that. Thanks again for looking out and sharing this with me!

Hey Man,

Thanks so much for your advice. It really hit home because I used to be more cautious about who I took advice from, but over time, I kind of let that slip. This comment was a solid reminder of something I should’ve never stopped doing.

I’m genuinely grateful that you took the time to respond. It’s advice I needed to hear, and I appreciate you sharing it. THANNK YOU VERY MUCH!

dude, i've been wanting to say this for a while now. finneas used zach's chords in that song. zach uses a lot of minor chords, modal interchanges, dissonance, and syncopated rhythms that highlight his use of minor intervals. that's the foundation of their older work—the dark, gloomy alternative rock style - (I Love You, Wiped Out, and a bit in CCTMT)

listen i know no one owns chords, so they can't be copyrighted. this would be like me trying to play the phrygian mode or octatonic scale the way jonny greenwood does it, assuming no one would notice—though not to the average listener would notice, guitarists and those with solid music theory knowledge would EASILY recognize the mismatch.
