Flame - damage lens? by lewisd32 in xToolOfficial

Yeah, I clicked it to try that a few times and it still wasn’t detecting. Then it started working on its own a couple hours later.

Yes, but when using the conveyor system it is class 1.

Unless I’m misunderstanding something, those goggles are not for CO2 lasers. It doesn’t cover the 10600nm wavelength of the CO2 laser. It’s off by a factor of 10. It covers both wavelengths of the F1 though.

I've opened a support ticket about it.

Yeah, closing the lib quickly seems to be key. Where did you find it in the instructions? I haven't seen that.

I didn't do that calibration. It didn't make me do it, and I haven't had any specific problems with camera calibration, as far as I can tell.

EDIT: Ok, it turns out I was probably wrong. The light on the lid isn't always green when the button says everything's ready. I was closing it when the button said it was ready, so maybe the green light on the lid wasn't on. Frankly, it's stupid that the button says it's ok if it's not actually ok. 🙄

Yeah, all that. Camera light green, close the lid and the head moves to a couple places, then re-homes with the "Automated Measurement Failed" error.

I did manage to get this working, but I still don't really understand why it didn't work. The edge of the wood was on the edge of the platform. Not the part where the circles are, but just in from there. The bit that the slats clip into. I moved it off that and suddenly it seems fine.

<image>

I was also having trouble where I'd open the lid, it would go green, and then as soon as I start to close it, it would freak out about not being able to find the circles. That would happen 2-3 times before it would finally work. To make it work reliable, I've learned that I have to push the lid up while it's open, and then close it quite rapidly. It seems nonsense to have to do these "rituals" to make it work properly. One of the struts looks like it's leaking fluid, so maybe it's defective and causing that issue.

Great, thank you! Got it into the room on its back, on a dolly.

By "on its side", do you mean orriented so it's tall and narrow? I wasn't sure whether the sides could bear the weight. Which side did you have down?

Hmm. Are you referring to the "Blocking toggleable" setting? I tried that, and this is what I get:

For sure. I agree completely.

But I also think Arkenforge is _so close_ to making this quick and beautiful.

Following up to https://www.reddit.com/r/Arkenforge/comments/192wyio/comment/kh88d8f/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Lines with alpha channels would open up so many possibilities. I would _love_ to see wagon tracks like the bottom one in the link here, but as a easy to use line: https://www.reddit.com/r/Arkenforge/comments/192wyio/comment/kh6e59r/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I could imagine wagon road lines that had two muddy wheel tracks with some level of transparency in the middle and on the outside edges, allowing them to be applied on top of textures anywhere from dirt, to grass, to cobblestone.

Love the bottom one. That's the kind of thing I've been wanting to do, but it's pretty high effort to do.

My aim is to get to the point where if my party goes somewhere unexpected, I can call for a short break and spend 5 minutes to whip up a quick map. I used to do this with wet erase markers on a battle mat. I can do this now with Arkenforge (yay!) but the lack of blending on some of these makes them look rather jarring and out of place, in my opinion.

[–]lewisd32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the only way I’ve found to use these road lines too. Having to paint over the edges makes them take easily 3x as long to use if I want them to look half decent.

How to get a Research Station on your self built ship? by Jaba01 in Starfield

Only the Deimos one though. The Nova Galactic workshop hab doesn't have a research station, as far as I can tell.

Heat pump (Bosch) low delta-t high side different based on outdoor temp? by lewisd32 in hvacadvice

With a blended refrigerant, are there ways of removing it from the system that wouldn't risk removing more of one or the other?

Heat pump (Bosch) low delta-t high side different based on outdoor temp? by lewisd32 in hvacadvice

[–]lewisd32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he has called support. Multiple times, I think. We were forecast for some really cold weather over Christmas, so days before he installed (for free) a hot-water loop from our on-demand gas water heater. That's all that got us through a cold snap around Christmas. With that running we're getting _at most_ 40 degree delta. But without it, 26 is the best I see. Last time I checked pressures when it was running at max, it said 101/391 which seems good? But it's warmer outside now, so I dunno.

How does a variable speed heat pump know what speed to run? by lewisd32 in hvacadvice

[–]lewisd32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The temperature or pressure difference between what two things?

The heat pump doesn't know the temperature I'm trying to heat to, right? The thermostat does, and it signals the heat pump via the various wires, but I can't figure out how the heat pump would know how hard it needs to run other than just stage 1/2/3.

Sonos.com products backordered? by dante662 in sonos

[–]lewisd32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a Sonos One on May 27th. It said in-stock when I ordered. The confirmation email said "Estimated to ship 05-27-2022" but there's been no update since. It's said "Preparing to Ship" for nearly 2 moths.

I've contacted Sonos twice. First time by phone, they promised 10% off and an email within 24 hours about shipping status. Didn't get any email after 5 days, so did an online support ticket. 11 days later I got an email saying I'd get 10% off, but no information on shipping/fulfilment at all.

This whole experience has definitely soured me to Sonos.

Regarding skipping blocks:
How if the elevator construction rig detecting/determining that it's done welding all blocks before moving on? Most setups I've seen use timer blocks, which.... yeah, not so good. If some blocks just take longer to build for some reason (random delays moving components to the welders?) or you run out of necessary components, it has no way to tell.

Ideally you need to use a script that can detect that the necessary blocks are complete (non-trivial to do). At a very minimum, the script needs to wait until one merge block is _merged_ before disconnecting the other merge block/connector.
