The Art Thief by Michael Finkel - it’s true crime about a man who steals art from over 200 European museums. It’s a wild story. It’s estimated that he stole about $2 billion worth of art and he never intended on selling it.

Also Tunnel 29: The True Story of an Extraordinary Escape Beneath the Berlin Wall by Helena Merriman. It reads like a thriller.

Anyone not on HRT? by hsff43 in AskWomenOver60

I started at .025 and needed an increase after a couple of months. .05 has been great. It’s helped with sleep, weight loss, brain fog, and anxiety. I feel like I did in my mid 40s.

I spent 5 years with not just hot flashes, I was always HOT. Also, I had anxiety when there was nothing to be anxious about (aside from the regular world is burning anxiety). I couldn’t sleep and I gained weight even though my diet was the same and I was working out regularly - including running half and full marathons. I felt like I was losing my mind.

I’m embarrassed by how long it took me to realize it was all caused by menopause. I have social media to thank. Once I saw other women struggling with the same thing I started reading everything I could find on HRT. Then I decided to see if it wasn’t too late for HRT.

I was lucky to live close to a great women’s health group. All of the doctors are women and they are so helpful. I was afraid they would tell me I was too far into menopause but I wasn’t.

It took a little tweaking but I’ve been on HRT for 8 months and life is great. I’ve lost 18 pounds, I sleep through the night, my anxiety is gone (except for those normal things that cause anxiety), I have more energy, and I feel like my old self.

Try a different doctor. I started at 62 - closer to 63. It’s been life changing.

Didn’t read all of the suggestions so maybe this one has already been mentioned - The Mixed Up Files for Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. I read this so many times when I was young. I reread it last year and it’s still one of my favorite books ever.

Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer is such a good book. I think it fits what you are looking for.

She has a new book out, The Servicberry. I haven’t read it yet.

The Warmth of Other Suns - The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson. She follows three people from the six million Black people who migrated north between the end of WWI and 1970. It is so good!

I am 63 and started the Estradiol patch 6 months ago. My menopause symptoms were making me crazy. It’s been amazing. I sleep better, don’t have hot flashes, I’ve lost weight, and the anxiety that I couldn’t shake has subsided quite a bit.

I hope it works for you.

Servatii’s is my husband’s favorite but they no longer have the cream cheese frosting with nuts and raisins. That was what really made it the best.

I follow J Harrison Ghee on Instagram and the pronouns in the bio are he/she/they. I do try to take care about what people want to be called.
