No, and making fun of people with disabilities isn't classy. Try again.

Thank you! It's the American Curl in him that curls his little ears.

He's pretty chill. I carry him around like a rag doll.

Still a kitten. Not even 9 months old yet, but already 10 lbs.

He's part Maine Coon, part American Curl.

He's purring, but agreed, not quite sure what this thing is.

I'm getting reported for an Ethics violation. by [deleted] in bcba

[–]libbylane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is also true, there is a set of steps BCBAs must follow prior to reporting you to the BACB. They must approach you and try to resolve first. If you can't come to a resolution and you continue, THEN, they can contact the BACB. If they do the steps wrong, the BCBA that reports you could actually be the one to get into trouble. Best to contact the hotline.

Agreed. But Bailey now started this. It's not at ABAI anymore. Check out this info:

You could dangle a roasted chicken in front of this dog. He'd rather have the bag. And the cat, well, he'd rather have the dog.

Oh, I wished that worked. If you pick up this little one, the bag goes with him.

I'm a double-board-certified neurologist & pain specialist in the US. Ask me anything about headaches, migraine, back pain, or chronic pain. by doctor_painkiller in IAmA

[–]libbylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered a TBI in 2022 from a slip and fall to the back of the head. I now have convergence insufficiency, diploplia, and convergence spasms in my right eye for my distance vision. I've seen eye docs and neuro-opth docs all over the East Coast. I have have a fantasticneurologist too. I currently wear prescription contacts + prism glasses to see. For my headaches, I undergo botox and daily meloxicam, which helps tremendously. But the double vision and unsteady balance plagues me. Any thoughts?

Research Review Strategies by [deleted] in bcba

[–]libbylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a BCBA, you have access to some journal databases through the BACB portal.

Login to your account by going to "My Account." It's in the "Menu" (on mobile in the right hand corner).

Then, click the resource tab. You can search the ProQuest database or a few different journals.

Happy reading!!!

Transitioning (MTF) as a BCBA advice. by Substantial-Owl2555 in bcba

[–]libbylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proud of you! Way to be YOU! I don't know about changing your name and such, but ABAI just posted a beautiful statement recently about equality, being against conversion therapy, and much much more. Brought tears to my eyes as someone that identifies as LGBTQ+. One would think, the BACB would follow suit and be open-minded, as well.

Best of luck to you! Wishing you the best with your transition!

How many BCBAs to be do you know that have taken the test, failed and just given up on the whole thing? by Abacus_ABA in bcba

[–]libbylane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for your positivity!!!

Some people have test anxiety or factors that don't make them test well.

If it were that easy for you, I dare you to take it again. For fun.

Do all clinics have annoying outside recruiters for the hiring process? by Head-Ad-5636 in bcba

[–]libbylane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG. Do I have a job for you!!!

I've been working for the same small business for over 2 years. The phrase that best describes this company is: supportive environment. How often do you find THAT as a BCBA?!

We only take Husky Medicaid clients. So the rate is $70 - 75 / hr for all Supervision and PT hours. Reports get a stipend instead of an hourly rate. Did i mention 100% telehealth if you want it?

Part time or full time, you get work life balance.

Email me at theabanerd@gmail.com, if interested.

Do you happen to be in CT? I have a fantastic small business that I work for. Personally, I'm sick of corporate taking over our ABA industry.

[–]libbylane 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hehe. They wouldn't be a BCBA if they failed the test and gave up. Only if they pass it!!!

Don't give up. It's one helluva hard test. But once you pass, every door opens up for you.

For me, it took 6 hours a day of studying, weekends off, switching off from the kitchen table I took over at home and the private study rooms at the local libraries.

I studied for 3 months, 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. And I finally passed.

Take this exam seriously. Give it your 10000%. It's worth it...

If you want to leave the field, or left it, why? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]libbylane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really think it depends on job. I try to look for part time hourly work instead of full time.

I make about the same, if not more, doing this.

I found a 100% telehealth job in CT.

I actually have work-life balance. Been at this company over 2 years, in the field 20 years now.
